  Excellent
11 February 2009: Andrea is an exceptional individual. She is focused, conscientious and well-organised. And she combines these attributes with brilliant communication skills which enable her to inspire confidence in all those who work with her. We worked together for six years during which time I think we made a difference to our organisation, and to the participants in the programmes we ran. She has developed her professional skills to become a highly sensitive and supportive colleague, who has the ability to add value in a range of individual and organisational settings.

05 February 2009: Andrea is an excellent tutor and trainer with a lot of experience of delivering training in the field of counselling skills and personal development.

CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

Self awareness is a key component of my work and, through using the group process, I encourage individuals to learn about themselves, together. By grounding my work in the Person Centred Approach, developed by the Humanistic Psychologist, Carl Rogers, I give people the skills to try out a different way of being. I provide education, training and personal development programmes that give people the space to reflect on who they are now, whilst exploring how much more they can be. The learning is self discovered and relevant. It is learning that lasts.

* Active Listening Skills
* Introduction to Counselling Skills (Listening Skills and Self Awareness)
* Introduction to Counselling Theory (Exploring Personality and the Person Centred Approach)
* Emotional Intelligence
* Group working skills
* Write Out Loud (using Creative Writing as a medium for building relationships)
* Personal Development workshops
* Facilitation services

My background as Course Director of Counselling Skills at UEA has given me years of experience working in this way. By bringing these skills to those outside the Counselling room, individuals discover that they can bring more of themselves to their relationships, and organisations discover that they can reap the benefits.

Please see my website for more information.

Owner

Norwich

Self awareness is a key component of my work and, through using the group process, I encourage individuals to learn together. The learning is self discovered self-initiated and relevant to the individual. This is learning that lasts.

I work for private, public and voluntary sector organisations designing and delivering training programmes that fit within a context that they prescribe.

(Oct 2000 & ongoing)

Course Director, Counselling Skills

Norwich

All my teaching requires the belief that learning is best met when suited to the needs of the individual (Freedom to Learn, Carl Rogers, 1969). Learning is experiential, coming from self-reflection (through practice grounded in theory) as well through offering and receiving feedback. Facilitation of the group to provide challenge and support (in the right amounts, at the right time) is very important

Education

(Oct 1994 to Jun 2000)

University of East Anglia

First Class BA (Hons) Professional Development
Work-based learning grounded in Donald Schon’s Reflective Practice. (1983, Temple Smith) This includes Qualitative and Quantitative Research Skills; Discourse Analysis and Theories of Learning. Also The History of and Central Ideas underpinning the Market. In year 5 I enrolled on a Certificate in Counselling Skills course. On being offered the role of Trainee Tutor in Year 6 I submitted an Outline Unit Proposal, which was approved by UEA’s Teaching Committee. This meant that I created my final two years of study, to suit my professional development needs. Permission was granted for me to be assessed at Level 2 for both years.
