Welcome back and we hope you had a great summer!
We’ve reached another milestone, with over 8,000 registered Sellers; and over 1,100 Buyers. Website traffic slowed slightly over the summer, but we’re seeing increased activity this month, as everyone gets back to work!

Get involved!
This month, we’re launching a new section on the people4business and people4charity websites. On the Get involved! page we’ll hope to cover a range of issues that our Buyers and Sellers are committed to; and various ways that you could get involved.
We’d like to make homelessness our first focus. Duncan Taylor, people4business Managing Director, is a former IT director, so he’s getting behind «Byte Night». This is the IT industry’s annual sleep out, to raise funds for children’s charity «NCH», in support of young people who are coping with life after care or facing homelessness. Byte Night will take place at Potter’s Field (between Tower Bridge and City Hall) on Friday 5th October 2007.
Duncan is committed to raising £2,000 through this event for NCH and would be delighted to hear from any Buyer or Seller who would consider sponsorship. Please contact him on duncan.taylor@people4business.com for details. And, if any Seller or Buyer in the IT industry wants to get involved, he’d love to hear from you — and to meet up on the night.
For those who aren’t IT specialists — or don’t live near London — there are a number of other homelessness-related charity events coming up:
In Manchester, on October 14, there’s the «Walk for Home» in aid of Shelter.
Crisis, another homeless charity, also has a number of «events». Including, this month: the «Lee Valley Walk», Saturday & Sunday 15-16 September 2007; the «Hydro Active Women’s Challenge» fun run in London, Birmingham and Liverpool, on Sunday 16 September; and, in London, there’s «The Rat Race», Saturday & Sunday 29-30 September 2007.

The first five Buyers or Sellers to email us either with details of a forthcoming event, or a picture of a charity event that has already taken place, will win a “stylish” people4business / people4charity t-shirt!

Since we launched people4charity, over 1,300 Sellers have specified charity discounts of between 5–85%, with an average saving for charities of 14%. More than 70% of newly registered Sellers have chosen to offer a charity discount.

Buyer Zone
Improved Seller information: We told you in the last newsletter about the new [View CV] field, which is displayed ONLY if a Seller has input their CV details. Now we’ve introduced another improvement in the [Similar Sellers] field, which, as the name suggests, gives you details of Sellers with similar skills.

Availability: Please can you make sure that your availability is up to date. Many Buyers want someone fairly quickly, so it saves us a lot of time if we know that you are unavailable, rather than finding out after you’ve been shortlisted. Thank you! You can update your details from your personal homepage, or drop an email to customer services with the date when you are next available, and they will do this for you.

Meet the team
We’d like to introduce Glen Dibley who is shortly to join people4business as Corporate Account Manager. He was latterly UK Development Manager for Prosperity 4 and prior to this was both a winebroker and a stockbroker. Glen brings a wealth of experience in the contracting / freelance market and we’re confident that his enthusiasm and professionalism will make a big difference, encouraging our corporate Buyers to put a higher volume of their business through people4business.com.
