CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé
1990 – Date Paul Temple Consultancy – Home based.
I was approached by Arlington Business Furniture of Milton Keynes to become their interim MD, with a brief to review and overhaul where necessary its products, systems, administration, sales and marketing. Without direct responsibility for the financial controls, I achieved my objective and re-launched the company with an entirely different product line and marketing ethos after one year.
My first purely consultancy assignment was to develop a range of office chairs for sale into the mid-low priced bracket using innovative fabrics and finishes to off-the-shelf components. I produced a sales brochure for my client but conceded that during my research into the potential for the products I was unable to anticipate volume sales and the project was discontinued at my instigation.
I was asked to participate in the marketing of a mobile industrial oil cleaning/filtration process. I formed Countdown Filtration and began the company cleaning by filtration, industrial fluids. I set up the business from scratch and undertook all administrative, operational and sales activities, negotiating with all suppliers such as banks, professional and legal/bureaucratic entities.
This business operates mainly within the automotive, plastics, paper and pressing industries and boasts Fords, Lefarge, Manrose and leading plastics formers among its clients; all were developed by me and I maintain my interest in the company as and adviser to the proprietor.
In the 1980’s and 90’s, having maintained an interest in property, I spent time to develop a Sports and Leisure Club, in Eltham, London, for a company called Sleekstar Ltd. and took the business up to a profitable sale in 2000. I formed the company on behalf of the 3 owners and during my involvement negotiated with brewers, licensing authorities and others, as well as staffing the bar on several occasions and cleaning up after time!
In 1998 I was asked by the proprietor of Medlock Associates Ltd., a recruitment consultancy, to join them as an associate and adviser, managing client relations, recruitment assignments and staff and to participate and manage operational and administrative procedures. During peek activity in assignments I devoted 3 days a week to the business and remained with the consultancy for over 3 years.
Whilst working within this sector I realised the potential of Internet recruitment in general and the commercial advantages of a web-based search and match products. I developed, using outsourced programmers and web designers, a product called www.geewizitworks.com and agreed to separate this business from the Consultancy; furthering the design and development of the product for a joint business venture.
I took from inception Staff Managed Services into an outsourced HR service that offers small businesses the ability to better-manage their HR functions through the use of a web-based information library and a staff records function. I developed this side of the business for Open Orchard Ltd., a joint venture BT Company.
I resourced, staffed and managed all HR functions for Open Orchard Ltd., from start up and saw the business grow from a staff complement of zero to over 40 during its first year. In September 2003, BT withdrew from the joint venture and my involved ceased.
I currently work with Complete Care Centre Ltd., a temporary-worker care agency for whom I provide management assistance on a regular weekly basis. My work here covers mentoring the Managing Director on aspects of the business and advising on all and any part of the business which requires my particular attention and which ranges from all HR functions to sales monitoring, liaison with outsourced accounting functions, contracts and wages.
Through my work with Complete Care Ltd., I was asked in 2004 to assist in the research and potential development for a hairdresser and beauty temporary consultancy called Hair-line. I undertook market research, visiting colleges, trade shows and exhibitions as well as meeting salons and proprietors for discussions to ascertain the business proposition’s viability. On behalf of my client I formed and registered the trading name, negotiated and opened their banking facilities, registered the business for VAT and approved and appointed other business advisers and suppliers. I set up their accounting and administration procedures and designed all their internal forms, documentation and marketing communications.
I work for the Enterprise Agency of East and North Kent through Business Link, Kent, offering business start-up and mentoring advice as well as facilitating courses on the subjects, to people thinking of setting up in business for themselves.
