After I passed my art foundation course at Westminster University I was set to go on and start my 3 year degree in graphic design - but realised that to get far within my dream career I needed to get some early experience first which is why I worked for ProntaPrint as they trained me up from ground level and gave me the confidence to use my creative skills for Mac & PC packages. I also picked up some vital knowledge of the print industry which enabled me to design creatively without causing headaches for the print companies as it’s extremely important for designers to know what can works and cannot work when designing for print.
After Prontaprint I saw a huge opportunity which meant me going backwards but to go forwards when I was accepted by Gartner as a desktop publisher.
Gartner is a huge organisation so each year I was able to achieve maximum results and received many awards within the company. Within a few years I was soon promoted from dtp, to senior dtp and then to my biggest promotion of senior graphic designer. This was a fantastic achievement as I had worked so hard for this as I also helped the management teams to build our own internal design agency which in its first year saved the company just over £500,000 pounds. I was at Gartner for 7.5 years and was ready to move on and set up my own design agency as I did within Gartner.
It’s now three years on and I'm still moving the business in a steady direction and for the past 8 months we have been working from our own studios. My business/company is my passion but having your own business makes you extremely flexible to freelance and over offers within the design industry.
I joined People4Business because it creates a fantastic opportunity to be recognised for what I do best and to most importantly offer my freelance services.
