CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

I am currently working as a freelance web designer and illustrator. Previously I was employed as a legal secretary, but retrained as a web designer with Birkbeck University, London.

I have experience of designing and implementing accessible web sites for various clients, ranging from a photographer to a florist. I have also undertaken some illustration and graphical work.

All the websites I construct are done so by using XHTML strict coding and CSS (cascading style sheets). I also use the other skills as listed in the skills section.

My history:

I left school at 16 and was employed a month later by the HSBC Bank. From there I retrained as a secretary in night school and then retrained as a legal secretary. I was also studying the law at this point and completed A-levels in Law (b) and Art (c). All of these qualifications were obtained in night school whilst I continued to work my way up the career ladder during the day. I then started to study as a legal executive and did well in the first year, but soon realised that I wanted to do something more creative and more to do with IT and computers.

After I had been working as a legal secretary for a couple of years I became interested in web design and decided that the next step was to retrain as a web designer. I went back to night school and undertook a diploma in IT and Communications with Birkbeck University, London.

I then launched my freelance career as a web designer and am currently looking for web design work. I am planning to continue my studies with the foundation degree in IT at Birkbeck University, and my diploma will qualify me to enter into year two of this. I would love to get my degree so that is the next step as far as my education goes.

The illustration side of my freelance career is just beginning for me, as I was primarily interested in web design. I have always been good at illustration and painting, and decided that I would implement these skills into my freelance career. So I am also open very much to any illustration work too.
