Employment History

(Jul 2006 & ongoing)

Freelancing and studying

Over the years my passion for art & design never diminished and while I worked in my previous positions, my spare time would be spent creating websites and studying. I now find myself happily freelancing and making a living doing what I have always loved to do.
I have had several commissions to design and build websites. These include kigwana.com, xavierhourlier.com, lospalitos.co.uk, mankalabeat.com and latinsource.co.uk.
In between commissions I continue to study and practice Flash, Actionscript, CSS, HTML and my congas.

(Feb 2002 to Jul 2006)

LloydsTSB Account Engineer / Senior Diagnostics Engineer

As the LloydsTSB Account Engineer for Siemens and later Fujitsu and former Senior Diagnostics Engineer for HP/Compaq, I was tasked with improving communications between my company and the customer, LloydsTSB.
I was given an unprecedented level of freedom as to how I went about achieving my overall task and so, in turn, my self-appointed responsibilities evolved as I resolved each problem and went on to the next. These included; writing and amending the Help desk's 1st and 2nd Line HTML/CSS based troubleshooting scripts; trend analysis; researching and writing Technical Service Advisories for the engineers; building a Primus Database of known solutions; 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support; resolving escalations from 2nd Line, 3rd Line and Service Delivery; arranging support for unsupported hardware/software.
In short, my approach was to simply throw myself into the centre of any problematic areas until workable solutions were found. I achieved a very high level of success in this position.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

My first passion has always been playing and learning about music and its history. I currently play percussion in several local groups, one of which is called "Los Palitos" who play authentic Havana rumba and bata. This music is deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban tradition and folkloric and I am fascinated to learn about the history and culture retained within the rhythms and songs.

My other interests include getting lost on foot, on bike, or occasionally in the car, in the countryside at weekends.
