• Sound work for documentaries including interviewing such people as Sir Paul McCartney, Pele and Tony Blair and working on programmes such as ‘Boy Soldiers’ and ‘Love Child’ which was ‘pick of the day’ on CH4 when it was screened. North LondonTechnical background includes,
• Camera testing and set-up from the Sony HD F900 as used in recent Matrix and Starwars movies to Panasonic DVX100A, which is now used extensively by BBC.
• Extensive knowledge of various sound mixers, microphones and radio microphones including testing and trouble shooting, professional usage and offering ‘over the phone’ technical support.
• Solid understanding of Vision Engineering including deck testing and basic maintenance, setting up monitors, and rigging multi-camera shoots, vision-mixing and standards conversion.
General duties included,
• Prioritising and delegating work in terms of deadlines, job complexity and available staff.
• Liasing with several companies, including suppliers, couriers, other facilities companies and clients.
• Covering for the Head of Operations, or Despatch and Logistics during periods of sickness or holiday. • Ordering of spare parts and basic engineering assistance.
• Responsibility for all sound equipment maintenance and weekly stock checks.
• Providing general hands on day-to-day training for new and junior staff, in terms of the working practises of the company, familiarising them with the equipment and teaching the workings of the internal computer system to process, despatch and check the return of each order.
• Being ‘On-Call’ for 24hr technical enquiries and emergencies once a month for one week and having to sort out problems on individual initiative.
Specific jobs undertaken included,
• Testing cameras and escorting them to Germany to rig a ten-camera shoot for a ‘Peter Gabriel’ concert, with Done and Dusted, and providing constant technical support and assistance during the gig.
• Working as a soundman on a ten-part documentary series in Cambridge for Sixth Sense. This was screened on channel 5 in 2004 with the title ‘Stepping Up’.
• Teaching two short workshops for the BBC about using the DVX100A camera and about basic sound recording good practice and techniques.

Experience in leading workshops in animation or graphic design and/or teaching experience desirable. You would work with your group to teach young people to create short animations using Apple Mac software, and/or to learn graphic art techniques to create logos etc using Apple Macs.
