I began as a trainee reporter in North Wales and after passing the National Council for the Training of Journalists Proficiency Certificate I worked for Westminster Press in Essex as a reporter and sub-editor. I spent two and a half years in the entertainment business including two years in cinema management with the Rank Organisation. After this I returned to journalism and worked in North Wales as a sub-editor on an evening newspaper; as chief sub-editor and acting night editor on a regional daily in Australia; as launch editor for a new weekly newspaper in the UK; as night editor for an English language daily newspaper in the Middle East; as a weekly newspaper editor and later an editorial project manager in North Wales; as a sub-editor and magazine editor in Norfolk; latterly as a freelance writer and web editor.
