Taking a design brief from scratch to produce an exciting, innovative and accessible myths and legends themed website and CD-ROM sent to local charities containing text, video, pictures and audio using complex Flash ActionScript coding for Barnardos, Newcastle council and various other charities to promote and bring positive awareness in youth volunteering in the region sent to local companies or charities. Communicate with clients about the brief further, gave advice from experience on the best application practices to use, themes and ideas explored much further. Organise work plan to help complete project. Design and develop visual web design concepts in Photoshop from what was discussed, present concepts to clients in meetings further discuss design and accessibility issues, ideas and themes in a courteous and polite manner. Make amends and corrections throughout the process, based upon clients’ feedback and requests. Video and audio edited to a professional standard to add to project. Finally build and develop in Flash and debug.

Design and develop a beautiful handbook in InDesign for those who have no access to a computer using similar design elements from website.

Three weeks work placement as part of a module for the Foundation Degree course. Working in a busy office alongside and assisting the Metro Radio multimedia designer. Attend regular meetings. Provide innovative ideas for new features to add on the website to get much more hits. Learn from scratch to use OSA Content Management System to input and manage data of the website, ensuring content is current; manipulate and retouch graphics for website, adding and update features and photo galleries and build html e-mails. Redesign the news and sports section, improving original web layout and accessibility. Worked closely with members of the other departments to create a “Just for Kids” charity poster and screensavers to advertise future night club events alongside main job role.

Taking a brief from scratch to design and develop a themed CD-ROM containing text, video, still images, audio and interactivity for Barnardos North East, Newcastle City Council, Volunteer Centre Newcastle and GoldStar based upon the current good practices in youth volunteering for 2008-2009.

Communicate with non-technical clients to provide further information about the brief. Discussion on how to turn a possibly dull brief into one that is exciting and a worthwhile experience for the audience, themes and ideas for CD-ROM explored and provide information best suited software applications and file formats to use.

Organise a manageable work plan to work towards to help complete this brief on time. Full responsibility given to design and develop the project in Flash with regular contact and feedback from clients. Produce polished visual web design concepts in Photoshop from brainstorms gathered from the meeting, present conceptual designs to clients, and discuss how design and accessibility issues, ideas and themes are fulfilled in the design concept.

Further develop and polish the design concept chosen in Photoshop. Video and audio recorded by Barnardos edited to a professional standard to add in Flash. All information gathered and put together in Flash. Add innovative interactivity in Flash and use Flash ActionScript for animations, finally debug and test to make sure links work and ActionScript coding works properly. Deliver and showcase the project to clients.

Knowledge of graphic design to be used to develop a beautiful handbook in InDesign for those who have no access to the website.

My main role was to manage and update the entire Metro Radio website using the OSA Content Management System therefore a thorough understanding of HTML coding was needed. To provide multimedia technical support for other departments such as create a “Just for Kids” charity awareness poster and eye catching screensavers designed in Illustrator to advertise future night club events.

Assist the main multimedia designer by taking on and completing one day briefs for example to create promotional stickers and posters in Illustrator. Generate innovative ideas for new features to add on the website to get new viewers to site by researching other popular current websites and magazines. Create, edit and proof read written material for the web, ensuring content is current, manipulate graphics in Fireworks to produce banners for the top of the features, creating new features and build viral marketing emails for Hays Travel competition in Dreamweaver. Redesign the whole news and sports section by improving original web layout and accessibility features.
