This was an infrastructure project, converting from Novell Netware servers to Windows Active Directory, involving File & Print, SMS, MOM, Antivirus (McAfee 8 Enterprise), Active Directory, User Experience, Remote Access and data backup & restore. I was responsible to the Project Test Manager for the testing of the whole project. I also had to cover the test management function in the Test Leader’s absence.
My testing included the production of the full suite of test documentation – from test requirements & matrices to test reports – as well as some of the actual running of and reporting on the tests themselves. I also had to raise and progress (chase) problem reports.

Contract Tester
British Telecom, BracknellContract Tester, responsible for all aspects of VV&T for the Company’s Directory Access WorkStation (DAWS) product – used for BT’s Directory Enquiries (118500 & others) product variants. This product is a client–server application, written (mostly) in MS VC++. It is a PC–based product with links to servers running UNIX (Solaris 2.8) and PC Netlink.
My testing included the design and production of the full suite of testing – from test strategy, requirements & matrices to test reports – as well as the actual running of and reporting on the tests themselves. I also had to raise and progress (chase) problem reports.
I was given responsibility for producing & maintaining the DAWS Intranet web site. This involved the design, development and maintenance of the web site – together with testing that the data on the site was complete and up–to–date. This was all done in MS FrontPage – with PERL, JAVA and JavaScript additions.
I was also responsible for the installation and maintenance of the dedicated DAWS hardware test environment.
I was responsible for the configuration and building of the specialised installation of McAfee’s AntiVirus 7 Enterprise that was distributed to all DAWS/OAWS workstations.
The contract was extended repeatedly every three months.

Contract Tester, working for the above Company at BT Labs, Martlesham Heath, Ipswich. I was working on the testing of the GeoTel Intelligent Call Router (forerunner of the Genesys program). I received training from the product supplier on the use of the System Administration workstation for such tasks as the production of scripts to automate the routing of ‘free–fone’ and ‘lo–call’ numbers (0800, 0345, etc) to the service centres. I was also required to produce a couple of test programs in Visual Basic to control the functions of both an internal PC GPIB (IEEE–488) bus controller card and an Aspect/Meridian Agent Controller.
