An experienced European Funding Programme Manager and successful bid writer. I currently manage a £4million European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme for 8 wards within Preston and am responsible for ensuring that the funds are spent correctly and that projects achieve their agreed outputs through appraising claims and auditing project expenditure and outputs. I work with project managers from the public and community and voluntary sector and report to the ERDF Management Committee and Government Office for the North West.

During my time as a consultant I undertook a variety of work : This included project managing a European Social Fund (ESF) Co-Financed project, bid writing and report work.

My role as European Development Manager for the Engineering and Marine Training Authority NTO (now SEMTA, the Sector Skills Council for Science Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies), I successfully bid for 5 ESF projects in the 2000-2006 ESF Programme and managed 6 ESF projects in the 1997-99 ESF Programme, ensuring the projects delivered to target. I also represented the NTO sector in the North East and East Midlands on the Objective 3 and Objective 4 ESF Regional Committees, and assisted with the appraisal of projects which bid for funds.

Responsible for the day to day financial and administrative management and implementation of a £4 million European funding programme, ensuring that commitment and spend targets were achieved. Managed one member of staff; oversaw the appraisal and approval of projects; carried out the monitoring and auditing of projects, ensuring that the projects adhered to European rules and regulations; processed and approved quarterly claims for grants; provided advice, guidance and training to project managers for all aspects of European funding; produced quarterly reports for the Programme’s Management Committee and the regional Government Office; managed the Technical Assistance budget and claims; liaised with the public, private and voluntary and community sector.
