•Designed Internet access for SMTP traffic on the Exchange mail platform
•Chief consultant for the firewall refresh program. Analysed traffic level across the firewalls, identified areas of concern and made recommendation (based on growth forecast) for improvement and optimisation.
•Designed and implemented VPN infrastructures consisting of Cisco ASA firewalls and various firewall technologies
•Delivered an IPT/IPCC/Unified Messaging infrastructure project

Design, implementation and documentation of the Northgate-IS Data Centre. The data centre comprised of Cisco switches (4500 and 6500 series), routers (2811, 3800, 7200 series) and Firewalls (FWSM, Netscreen). Protocol and technologies deployed include OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and Private VLAN.

Results/Achievements:
•Built the MPLS core and WAN aspects of the data centre infrastructure.
•Commissioned customer WAN links (Framestream, Cellstream and Megastream) and attaching them in their respective VRF.
•Gained thorough knowledge of overall data centre environments including security, infrastructure, networks, storage, backups, system design and architecture.
•Designed, implemented and documented the migration of dialup VPN physical nodes to a virtual environment. This resulted in significant savings on rack space and power.

This varied role in a telecoms company incorporated varied functions from being the technical representative at post/pre-sales meetings to staging and commissioning solutions. I was Configuration authority for several multi-million pound projects on Metro and National Ethernet.

•Provisioned several MPLS VPNs
•Trained other engineers on configurational aspects of Metro Ethernet.
•Design assured the design produced by the service design team.

Technical authority and senior escalation point for issues relating to internal and customer infrastructures. Responsible for the overall management and security of the network including Cisco PIX Firewalls, Checkpoint FireWall-1 NG Firewalls, Cisco ACS Servers and VPNs.
Re-design of PH's internal UK core network. Migrating from EIGRP and RIP routing protocols to an OSPF multiple area network design. Upgraded from Cisco 2610 routers to Cisco 3725 series routers. Design, implementation and support of the core network
