CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

Running my own small business, I thrive on the pressures of meeting deadlines. I have proven leadership skills which include being able to operate effectively as part of a team. My main strengths lie in problem solving, finding the correct solutions for a wide range of clients and front/back end web development.

My drive is meeting web standards both in accessibility as defined by the W3C and usability built on experience. I am a strong believer that web applications can be powerful, easy to use and aesthetically pleasing with no compromise, thus enabling access to the internet for all.

Employment History

(Jul 2007 & ongoing)

Freelancer

I now maintain a growing client portfolio of SME’s who in addition to strong application development and quality design, require constant management and support. All aspects of the business fall directly under my control making use of my project and time managements skills as well as my years of development experience.

(2003 to 2007)

Technical Director

Virtual Webmaster Limited / MotorTrades Ltd provide high quality bespoke internet applications to a wide range of local SME’s. As Technical Director, in addition to my role as senior programmer, it was my duty to oversee all aspects of the web development process from initial client introduction, through design, development and testing. Reporting to the MD it was my responsibility to ensure that all of the client’s needs and requests were met satisfactorily.

2004 – 2006 Senior Programmer

As senior programmer, I was responsible for project management on a wide range of projects including an online Home Selling Service, numerous e-commerce applications with full shopping cart integrations and an internal office system for a multi million pound advertising agency, to name a few.

2003 – 2004 Junior Programmer

Assisting in the development of front end, public facing websites, online applications and e-commerce businesses. Reporting to the senior programmer, my duties involved liaising with customers at every stage of development and contributing to every aspect of development from design to programming.

(1998 to 2003)

Various

Varied, Travelling

Between the autumn of 1998 and the summer of 2003, I embarked on a mission to visit as many parts of the world as possible. My travels took in Holland, Thailand, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Australia and New Zealand.

Nearly all of this time was spent working in various jobs to help fund my stays. As a result I worked in a large number of unrelated industries from charity work to clothes making which are too numerous to list. This I believe has given me a wealth of life experience if nothing else.

2001 – 2003 Double O Ltd - Web Designer

Whilst living for 2 years in Nelson, New Zealand, I decided to chance my hand at web design. Despite having had an interest in computers from a young age, I had never thought of turning it into a career. An opportunity arose for me to work freelance for a small local company in my spare time, and within 3 months I had been given a full time job. It was here that I quickly realised that my skills lie in programming and website development, not graphic design and I embarked on learning predominantly windows based technologies.
