Teaching BTEC engineering from first diploma (level 2) up to higher national diploma (level 4), in both theoretical and practical subjects.

Design of gears, gear cutting tools and industrial gearboxes.

Design of cutting tools and machine tooling for gear manufacture, CNC programming and machine process improvements.

Manufacture of high precision tooling and gauging - turning, milling, surface and cylindrical grinding, jig-boring and hand fitting.

3 months in heat treatment - materials testing including hardness testing, case depth testing, metallurgy etc. Monitoring of heat treatment processes e.g hardening and tempering cycles, shot peening etc.
3 months in assembly - assembly of heavy duty automatic, semi and manual truck transmissions.
3 months in gear cutting - manufacture of high precision heavy duty spur and helical, internal and external involute gearing
3 months in maintenance - service and repair of machine tools
3 months in standards dept - service, monitoring and calibration of measuring and gauging equipment.
Remainder of 3.5 year apprenticeship in area of choice (tool room)
