Recent projects:

A wiki-like business directory, all business information is fully editable by members of the public. PHP and MySQL based the system currently serves 2.2 million business records. Microformats (allowing easy extraction of contact information) and OpenSearch (allowing 3rd parties to build their own front ends to the search engine and make it possible to add the site search to the IE and Firefox tool bars) have been integrated into the system. Sphinx full text search engine provides the main keyword search back end. Perl scripting has been used to assist in the maintenance tasks. Also providing SysAdmin.

Facebook application for a major international music TV channel promoting a new TV series. The application involves taking a quiz and the user being rated by their friends. PHP and MySQL provide the back end functionality, and AJAX is heavily used for the front end. The application was ported to Bebo.

Server set up and migration – The set up of a dedicated server, based on Linux CentOS 4.3. As well as the standard Apache web server and MySQL database (with replication) the server uses a qmail / vpopmail for outgoing mail, and Exim / ClamAV and SpamAssassin from incoming mail. In addition to setting up the server the project requires the migration of 100s domains, including both websites and email accounts

A web based interface allowing the Client, a web development company, to easily manage pushing changes through from the development to staging to go live phases of a web project. Using Subversion (SVN) as their version control the whole process could be managed, including setting up new projects, via the web pages (PHP).

PHP / MySQL / AJAX marketing data entry tool exporting to a Flash based system. The end client was the European arm of an industry leading computer and peripheral hardware manufacturer.

A number of brochure websites, mainly PHP and MySQL based, providing functionality such as news systems, product and brand pages, content management via a wysiwyg interface.
