CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

Technical Knowledge and Experience

PCs and Networking:
I can put PCs together and set them up to perform any task. I can install and setup any software handed to me in a box with manual. I can install any peripherals such as cameras, infrared, scanners, printers, network cards and so on. I have installed large networks using highways on 4C+S ring, 2C+S star, coax, CAT5 and fibre. I have set up WANs using dialup and ISDN. I have setup protocols such as IP, TCP, IPX, SPX, Applenet and Novell. I have installed and setup file servers, mail servers, printer servers, WWW page servers, proxy servers, SQL servers and firewalls.
I am familiar with most Microsoft products and I am confident at learning new tasks to perform that I have not already done.

PLCs and Automated Controllers:
I have used, installed and programmed extensively the following list of manufacturers:
Trend
Mitsubishi
Toshiba
Siemans
Johnson
Honeywell
Allen Bradley
Staefa
Satchwell
Andover

Operator Terminals:
I have setup, programmed and integrated the following list of operator terminals:
Beijers
962, 963, 964
Intouch,
PC Vue
MX SCADA 32
PC panels with programmable touch screens.
Speed Inverter terminals (have extensive experience and knowledge on speed inverter commissioning).

Programming Languages:
I am a competent programmer and have extensive experience in the following languages:
Visual Basic (This includes VBA modules for all Microsoft Office tools such as FrontPage, Outlook, Excel, Word and Access) this includes designing forms, automated tasks and creating installable plug-in module applications.
Pascal
C++
PHP
ASP
HTML
SQL
AutoCAD Lisp
Cobol
Excel Macros
Cobol
Java (Limited knowledge and experience)

Note:
I have not used all of the above systems all of the time. When I am required to use a system that I have not used for a while I tend to find that it takes a short period to bring myself back up to speed.
I guess this is typical of a versatile automation engineer and software developer.

Employment History

(Apr 2005 & ongoing)

Director

With a small number of freelance and contract projects under way I decided to establish a limited company. The company has now been trading as such since 28th October 2005.
I have been concentrating on where my talents lay. In software programming and hardware design. I have a small but devoted customer base who appreciate my talents and the service that I provide.
My bread and butter work comes from small businesses that hire my expertise in iinstalling networks, servers and resolving PC issues. I also provide internet services such as website hosting and website design.
One customer in particular had a website and a stock control program that were incompatible. I designed and wrote an interface protocol server and now the website is updated with up to the minute stock levels and the orders are
automatically sent to the processing and shipping department.
Also, over the last six months I have designed and developed new technology. I am on the tender list for R.G.Carters Ltd, Persimmon Builders and Kiers Builders. I have tendered for several large contracts and I have a very good rapport with the procurement and contracts managers at these companies.
I am always looking for new opportunities and of course to sell my expertise for
the benefit of customers. When a customer asks me if I can make it do something
my reply is I can make it do anything, of course it’s all down to cost.
