High street retailer operating 230 UK stores and 90 international franchises with 2000 employees and turnover of £190 million

• Successfully recruited, retained and developed brand new HR and Training teams, and delivered an effective HR function into the business, ensuring the right cultural fit

• Managed, designed and delivered a variety of development programs for the business from customer service and sales to leadership and line management. Our Customer Quest initiative increased conversion by 2 percentage points, adding 3% to sales

• Designed and implemented a bespoke psychometric to aid in the recruitment and retention of the store management population. This was further developed into a PDP tool, and the key capabilities described were used as part of the pay review process

• Reduced store manager turnover from 34% in 2001 to 11% in 2007 by working closely with the board and retail operations teams, facilitating the required changes to working practises and recognition systems to reflect more closely the expressed desires of our store teams

• Responsible for internal communication including the planning and execution of all corporate events

• Designed staff attitude surveys, analysed results and worked with staff and top management to produce and deliver agreed action plans

• Facilitated board and senior manager off sites

Responsible for setting up an effective HR and training function from scratch, following a successful de-merger from the parent company. Described the HR structure, its key accountabilities and KPIs and recruited all key roles. Planned, developed and implemented an HR strategy, and facilitated the change through the business, ensuring buy-in from all key stakeholders.

Formulated a learning and development strategy that encompassed both internal and customer-facing training and development needs. Strategy was closely aligned to the business objectives. Initiated, designed and led management and leadership development programmes across the organisation.
