Working closely with Sussex Police to identify key areas to reduce operational costs through consolidation (data centres, servers, storage, databases, network operations centers and staff) — developing specific consolidation plans, identifying key areas for cost savings, and selecting appropriate technology solutions.

Objective - Ensuring the alignment of the Operational and Technical Infrastructure strategy with the Business Strategy, whilst reducing overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and environmental impact.

Achievements of Note

• Implementation of NetApp V3200 series SAN at dual DC locations (virtualisation layer, de-duplication, H/W optimisation, volume snapshot/copy)
• Stabilisation of VMWare virtualisation environment to enable greater capacity for server virtualisation and HA for Sussex Police services.
• Upgrade of central backup environment to NetBackup v7 and clustering ability.
• Upgrade of Sussex Police data centre environments to ensure viability and effectiveness of supporting IS strategy for the next three to five years; ensuring responsibility of reducing Sussex Police’s carbon footprint whilst maintaining service delivery for operational use (cold aisle containment, air flow management and power monitoring solutions)

Bravura Solutions Limited is a global leader in the provision of: superannuation and pension, life insurance, investment, transfer agency, STP financial messaging and portfolio management software for financial institutions.

Objective - To deliver and manage a £2 million IT portfolio of infrastructure project streams related to delivering new UK primary and disaster recovery data centre environment, provisioning new server hosting infrastructure to include a multi-tier application server environment, VMWare capability, backup facility and replicated SAN.

Achievements of Note

• Prepared two data centres to accommodate ‘new for old’ server migration strategy, related networking hardware and WAN links and installing 180 new servers into two geographically separated data centres.
• Liaised with 3rd party telecom providers for WAN link installation and commissioning.
• Managed the implementation of a new Active Directory infrastructure to include mirrored SAN replication to the DR site, a virtualised development environment (VMWare ESX) and a centralised backup system. All IT hosted services were configured for remote access and support.
• Monitored financial aspects of each project/work request to ensure expenditure of labour and materials was controlled to plan and variances managed appropriately.
• Managed the implementation of diverse circuit connections to 21 client sites and seven external offices utilising leased lines and PABs across a Global MPLS network.
