E3-D Boeing AWACS Mission System Radar

· Solely responsible for carrying out training design and delivery of an 11-week Mission System course. Day-to-day management of the course, paying close attention to detail.

· Delivered training in commercial environment (Northrop Grumman Baltimore Maryland) for 5 months. During this time trained U.K. military aircrew, ground crew and American civilian personnel on the theory and operation of a complex Radar System. Liaising with Northrop Grumman design engineers to gain a full understanding of the system.

· Solely responsible for training all personnel employed on the Northrop Grumman Surveillance Radar System and OEM Telephonics Secondary Radar IFF Interrogator, Hardware and Software. Theory and practical lessons. Briefing of senior engineering management, supervisors and also non-technical personnel.

· Sole responsibility for the researching, creation and preparation of all lesson materials and visual aids/computer presentations in accordance with the current modification state of the aircraft. Creating interesting and visually stimulating lessons.

· Conducting on-going assessment of students' progress, identifying any learning difficulties and carrying out remedial action as required.

· Delivery of a 5-week conversion course, enabling previously qualified personnel to operate, maintain and repair post modified Aircraft.

· Acted as interface during delivery of a £1.8 million pound Computer Based Training package. Catalogued faults and inaccuracies, pre-delivery at the manufacturers facility and post delivery.

· Delivered in-depth instructor led CBT package

E3-D Boeing AWACS Sentry Flight Line

· Responsible for Handling and Rectification of the Boeing AWACS aircraft complex Mission System Surveillance Radar and IFF Interrogator Secondary Radar.

· Work on the Radar ranges from delicate digital circuitry and Data Communications in the control and processing area to High Voltage Generation used on the Klystrons and Travelling Wave Tubes in the RF power generation equipment.

· Extensive work carried out on the environmental systems used to cool the Transmitters and Phased Array Antenna. Used wide variety of specialist tools and test equipment. Long in-depth retest and calibration procedures.

· Responsible for the Hands-on supervision and co-ordination of a 14 highly skilled personnel within a multi-disciplined team. Carrying out all Radar maintenance activities. The effective use of manpower and resources, ensuring all maintenance tasks are well documented and ensuring that all tradesmen work to relevant safety precautions. Working to ISO 9OO1 Quality standards.

Supervisor/Technician

Tornado GR11987 - 1990

· Responsible for rectification, testing and modification of the Ferranti Ground Mapping & Terrain Following Radar.

Work included high voltage generation circuits, high power RF. Specialised mechanical bore-sighting equipment and hydraulic drives. Calibration procedures. The use of many tools and various pieces of specialist test equipment.

Jaguar Electronic Countermeasures Pod

· Responsible for rectification, testing and modification of the Westinghouse ECM pod fitted to the Jaguar aircraft. Work included high voltage generation circuits, traveling wave tube amplifiers, environmental control and various RF jamming techniques.
