· In addition to my assignment with IUCN, I worked for about nine months as the Assistant Administrator (Assistant Mayor) of the City of Peshawar, having a population of around 2 million. For the first time a professional from an NGO was appointed as an Assistant Administrator to assist and advise in running the affairs of a capital city (2001)
· Initiated and Coordinated the approval of two Asia-Urbs Projects for the City of Peshawar in collaboration with Luton Borough Council, UK, with funding of 500,000/- euros each (2001-2)
· Assisted the Government of North-West Frontier Province in initiating the City Development Strategy (CDS) for Peshawar in collaboration with the World Bank and UNCHS. CDS was one of the first City Development Strategies in Pakistan (2000-01)
· Part of the team who worked on initiating and materializing for the first time in the North-West Frontier Province the concept of Land Use Planning & Zoning (2003)
· Selected to participate in the Asia-Urbs Projects Conference, Sweden, 2001
· Conceptualized and materialized the idea of establishment of an "Environmental Cell" in the Local Government & Rural Development Department. The NWFP Local Government & Rural Development Department was the first and only local government department in Pakistan having an Environmental Cell (1998)
