This company are amongst the market leaders in the hospitality sector. Using Intersystems Cache and Java, I am responsible for developing and maintaining InnTouch and Champs, which are Premier Travel Inn’s front-desk and central reservation systems respectively. These are enterprise-level clustered systems with in the region of 2000 consecutive users spread over 600+ sites.

Sep 02 – Jan 06 Took time out to learn Flash / Actionscript, PHP, HTML, CSS, web development using Dreamweaver and also created a company. Specialise in open-source (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) Content Management Systems and are a registered consultancy. The majority of our work has so far has involved providing dynamic, transactional online-shops and community sites for our clients, with an emphasis on speed of development and giving the client the tools to easily update their own content. We currently run 3 fully-monitored servers based at Telecity in London, hosting 15 client websites.

Joined as a contractor, using some Cache but mostly MSM on DEC Alpha hardware. The contract involved wide scale changes to their PEPS system.

Joined as a contractor, using MSM-PC (Mumps) in an NT environment. Maintained Trips, an accommodation, events and attractions database system, written using the Hoskyns MDM tools and KB-SQL. For the last 3 months of this contract I had been learning to use SQL Server (versions 7 and 2000), Visual Basic (version 6) and Crystal Reports (versions 8+).

Joined as a contractor, using Maximumps on HP-9000s. Working primarily on development projects for BUPA, using STAR, a private healthcare system.

Joined as a member of the Breast Screening Team in my capacity as Analyst/Programmer, initially using DSM on PDP-11s before moving to MSM-Unix on HP-9000 F/10s. My involvement included significant amounts of development work and regular support activities. I carried many projects through each stage of the development cycle, including the integration of CoWriter (an ad-hoc report-generator) into the National Breast Screening System (NBSS), for which I received a letter of commendation for my work, from the creators, CoMed, based in USA. Completed modifications to NBSS in order to make it Year 2000 compliant.

Joined where I was involved in the development and support of several established systems, before being drafted as part of a small team of programmers who were responsible for the design, development and support of bespoke systems for new customers, using MSM-Unix on IBM RS/6000s, M-11 and DSM on PDP-11/73s and DataTree Mumps on PCs

Worked as part of the Occupational Health Team who were responsible for the development and support of COSTAR, an occupational health system used by many major companies, written in DataTree Mumps on PC systems. Was promoted to Programmer after 6 months period, when my responsibilities included a greater involvement in customer support. Was introduced to other dialects of Mumps: DSM, VAX-DSM, MSM, M-11/+ and M/VX on a variety of different hardware platforms.
