Lead Technical Design Authority and Technical Architect

Atos Origin won a contract to manage the infrastructure elements of the Ministry Of Justice network. I was the lead technical consultant for the MOJ test project: Lead architect responsible for the design solution of the new non-live test environment for the MOJ.
Owned and design all the network elements of the NLE design. Responsible for the sign-off, governance, assurance and security of all designs. Developed the Implementation strategy and roll-out management. Initiated and owned the liaison with the various third party suppliers.
Ensuring the integrity of data transfers is maintained. Use of certificates to encrypt data and decryption of data using PKI. All secret, secure, restricted and confidential data conformed to accredited standards. Maintaining the MoJ designs according to MoD standards as set out in various service publications such as the JSP440. Regular liaison with 3rd party suppliers to ensure products were capable and of the required security standards.
Lead all the following areas in both the MOJ and Prudential accounts:

• Data centre design
• Adherence to Security concepts
• Design and implementation of the new sites connected via MPLS
• Hands on support for the entire MoJ infastructure

Senior Technical Designer (Design, Security, Strategy and Data)

LEAD Manager: Design, Development and Consultancy Services.

BT Global Services have a £500 Million contract to Manage and Support the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and National Australia Group (NAG) Networks. I was the Lead Architect for all Network and Security solutions on both accounts.

I was in charge of all RBS technical design solutions and security strategy, responsible for more than 20 designers on a business as usual basis. I reported directly to the technical director of RBS and NAG.

Lead all the following areas in both the RBS and NAG accounts:

• Security architecture sign off
• Design and support of technical security solution for existing and new infrastructures both at remote site and core MPLS sites
• Provision of Strategic direction and lead on security designs and policies
• Designing and supporting an IP-VPN connection to all the sites
• Production of technical design and support documentation
• Design, deployment and support of IP-VPN network across 5000 sites for the RBS group. Utilizing an IP-Clear product on the core MPLS network.
• Representing BT at various Technical Design Workshops-to identify customer requirements
• Unix system administration, scripting and support
• Key engineer for BT on RBSG/EDS cheque Clearing Network.
• Lead designer on various sensitive projects
• Data centre optimization
• Designed and implemented multi-million pound merger solution, for EDS and RBS.

Projects:

Provided a major contribution to Consultancy, Design, Development, Integration and Support for Professional Services for all Network Security decisions for BT and both RBS and NAG. Also responsible for the provision of high level technology & IT advice and services to both internal and external clients. This was in the form of leading actual design specification for technical mergers of both the RBS and Natwest estates. Solely responsible for the cost reduction and savings in excess of 1Million pounds per annum.

Data centre rationalization for the RBS network, this entailed consolidating 8 data centres to 2.

Ownership and responsibility of the governance for the solution designs ie the design of networks and security, systems architecture, systems and/or for the development and integration of overall solutions and also had responsibility for the strategic direction of key/complex solution areas.

Management of teams who have responsibility for in depth analysis, design (both for high and lower level solutions), development, testing/integration and maintenance/support as well as consultancy. Also had the responsibility for financial budgets, development costs, estimating and operating costs.

Designing and Implementing Technical Security Solutions for NatWest Bank/Royal Bank of Scotland, adhering to procedures and Service Level Agreements in a Structured Contract Environment where strict Change Controls where in place between the Bank and BT Global Services.
Design, build and support of diverse, disaster recovery capable data centres

Day to day provision of 3rd Line Support to the Royal Bank of Scotland and subsidiaries in excess of 6000 banking sites, together with Service Proposals and Visio Diagrams. Predominantly “Hands On” type work, building, implementation and testing solutions in Lab environment before production rollout.
