• Editorial production controller:
• The Editorial Production Department provided a centralised editorial page make-up and design capability and operated under a line manager. Whilst operating as a coherent production team, individuals specialised in the production of specific titles for various writers. I was responsible for:
1 Using the company's computerised system to make-up pages on screen to final approved format for dispatch, via various media to the imagesetter/printer.
2 Check physical or virtual proofs supplied by the imagesetter/printer.
3 Liaising with the editors, advertising team and the imagesetter/printer.
4 Contributing towards improvements in publication design and the establishment of efficient working design practices: templates, master pages, semantic stylesheets (char, para, obj, swatches).
5 Assisting in research of illustrative matter, designing or commissioning front covers.
6 Preparing artwork on screen using available software; complete in-house high-end scanning of photographs and artwork and carrying out any necessary corrections, retouching or complete reworking of illustrative matter. Some repurposing of illustrations for the web.
7 Providing a technical software expertise resource for various issues, questions or queries.
• Main publications: Metal Bulletin Monthly: main issue + Cu, Al, LME, Ferro-alloys and Chinese supplements. Mineral PriceWatch: print and enhanced PDF versions. Industrial Minerals.
• Other: Chinese Industrial Minerals directory (for the maps). Metal Bulletin Research, etc.

Working with financial controllers and auditors: as with 2 previous years: stylesheets, copyflow, tables + structured translations, database work.
