Within this contract I was employed to create functional test scripts (manual and automated) for the whole lifecycle of the project and I controlled the test bed and user acceptance test environments. I also implemented the automated test suite Test Complete v4.31 into the development / testing area. The project involved a major global upgrade on an internal .NET / Web application built within the .NET / SQL Server 2000 environment, developed using a remoting infrastructure. This required functional testing on the internal company application and also web testing on the external credit insurance web front / back end.

Lead Software Tester for a Microsoft Gold partner software consultancy developing Microsoft-centric software. Involved in testing a wide range of CRM and Call Centre based functionality in the .NET environment. The role involved the following areas:

▪ Identify manual & automated test strategy and test execution plans.
▪ Implementation of IBM Rational Test Studio into the department. Programmatically script automated test scripts using IBM Rational Test Studio (Rational Robot) for full functionality and regression testing.
▪ Creation of VB.NET test scripts to test server side processes (white-box testing).
▪ Define the different types of test cases for the test environment.
▪ Documenting test results, issues and faults and liaise with development members.
▪ Analysing results and identifying problems areas.
▪ Test Execution / Output and results checking / Conclusion analysis.
▪ Re-testing issues fixed in new builds.
▪ Managing Microsoft Certification test projects e.g. SQL 2000 certification at Veritest, Ireland.

Employed as a Consultant at various client sites throughout the UK. The role involved Test Analyst and Test Operator duties encompassing:

▪ Define test strategy and test execution plans for a project based on Test Methodology.
▪ Define the different types of test cases for the test environment.
▪ Documenting test results, issues and faults.
▪ Analysing results and identifying problems.
▪ Test Execution / Output and results checking / Conclusion analysis.

Assignment: Involved Unit / System Functional / Integration / Operational Acceptance / Compatibility / Regression Testing.
An e-commerce venture which involved the testing of an infrastructure website. I also gained some experience of the Cyrano Test Tool Suite to complete the stress and performance testing of the website as well as completing the scripting for the test automation.

Assignment: Intranet / Matchmaker – System Functional Testing.
Involved in the systems testing of an Intranet server system. Tested the server tier structure using manual testing methods to ensure that the file structure was unaffected during file transfer procedures, and that the servers and associated software performed according to specifications. Systems functional testing of the Matchmaker holiday booking system.

Tested applications for Y2k compliance in accordance with the Y2k test methodology quality standard. I worked to a Test Methodology that encompassed the following processes, which were fully documented to adhere to ISO 9001. These processes were project initiation, user meeting, product questionnaire, scoping, estimate, designing the plan, test script production and documenting results / recommendations.
Full lifecycle testing was carried out and encompassed static, dynamic and functional testing processes. Testing was performed on all date related functionality to ensure that the systems worked pre, during and post Year 2000 until 2019. Finally user acceptance testing was carried out after having the User Representative involved from the beginning as a document reviewer / signatory participant.
My experience at KPMG was in testing Client/Server applications with the front-ends mainly developed in Visual Basic or MS Access running on Windows 95/98. The back-end tended to be ORACLE RDBMS on a UNIX platform. The role involved meeting users and travel to various sites in the London area to learn and understand the systems and third party packages that required testing.
As the project drew to a close, I was working on general system testing on client-server applications for implementation into the KPMG business area.

Liaison with Project Managers / Head of IT Production relating to project support activities. Ranging from consolidation of monthly Project Report, to implementation of resource planner RETAIN into the Project Office for use within Production dept.
