SIP. H.323, VoIP and TDM, corner stone technologies enabling me to deliver next generation Telephony solutions and applications to the business community. New and improving convergence skills have facilitated design, delivery and support of voice, video, presence and collaboration applications in the media revolution that is changing the telecommunications industry.

Indeserve New Zealand is a national leader in the delivery of Telecommunications project and support services, operating from 16 regional offices they provide:
Network installation support and Management, such as Structured Cabling solutions (Krone ™ Installer of the Year 1999), Server-LAN-WAN installation and support.
Provision of Network Services for Telecom NZ (Primary Telecomm Service Provider) e.g. PSTN, ISDN and ADSL.
And attended preferred supplier to Telstra NZ, Erricson NZ and Alcatel NZ.
During my 6-month contract to Inderserve I was working on projects that included:
Nationwide roll out of the Alcatel P4400 PABX’s to the New Zealand High and District Courts, incorporating Cat5 MDF/IDF and PBX installation, patching of new stations (between 300 and 1000 ports) provision of PRI ISDN30 PSTN services.
Support in user acceptance testing and out of hours cut over.
Maintenance of the MD110 for Erricson NZ, providing “on site” fault diagnostics for the remote Help Desk and carrying out Adds Moves and Changes etc..
Maintenance of Telstra NZ services, including testing PRI and ATD’s, (Automatic Toll Dialers) PSTN digit insertion units for access to the Telstra NZ network.

Full MDF/IDF audits, identification of network services and customer related facility cables, proving and updating customer MDF/IDF records.
Installation of NEC NEAX ICS 120 PIM’s and associated LT equipment cables, krone module terminated onto the new MDF/IDF.
Population of PIM cabinets with Processor, SMDR AP00, PRI 30DTC + SC01 d-channel, Bus card, 4COT, extension cards digital/Analogue etc.

Tie/Communications Inc. is a North American manufacture of the ONYX and Buscom PBX product range.
The UK operation provided Project and Operational activities and was sponsor to the Jordan F1 Team to which I was assigned as the senior systems engineer. Tie/Italia established it’s self as the 3rd largest supplier to the Telecommunications Market in Italy and making in roads to the Spanish market.
My position of Field Service Engineer encompassed:
Fault diagnostic’s and repair, diagnostic and vendor escalation of DASS II /ISDN2e and analogue network faults, technical support, Onyx PBX installation and commission projects including site surveys, customer/contractor liaison, client training and post install support.
Supported Tie products included: -
ONYX-72*180, VSN 16*48 PABX and the MARQ II, EK816 Key systems, manufactured for BT, Tie Info Manager ™ Voice Mail System (CTL development) incorporating IVR features. Computer Telephony Integration utilizing TAPI and TSAPI windows interfaces (CTI). SMDR applications Opal ™ and Phone Control ™ Call Management Systems.
Technical issues that I have resolved included: -
Identification of DASS2 and ISDN 2e network/DTI failures, Implementing effective use of the ACD functionality of the switch with in Call Center Environments, design and integration of the Onyx into VPN environments, wiring faults on both Client and service provider networks, interfacing AC15/DC5 and MUX provisioned circuits, system Hardware failures with hot ensuring minimal disruption to client services, identification of Software orientated problems with escalation to the system developers based in Canada, VM failure and recovery of PC based messaging systems.
Further to the above systems I also supported the Tie Turret 3000 series Dealer Board located in the Royal Bank of Canada, Queen Victoria Street, London. The Dealer Board was part of the Business Recovery Unit that was out-soured to subscriber banks.

PSTN exchange upgrades through the installation of AXE10 Digital switches to replace the old Analogue TXE 4 exchange systems.
Duties included assistance in the construction of the AXE10 switch cabinets, (JIFF) jumpering and termination of the new MDF (either Wire-wrap soldered or A8 Punch-Down), cut over of exchange services to egress and recovery of old frame wire jumpers.

Computer Futures - West Devon Borough Council.

West Devon Borough Council provides services to the borough community from its head office located in Tavistock where approx. 250 users utilize a Novell 3.11 based Server, 3Com ECS LinkBuilder Hub with Cat5 structured cabling and Thinnet media running IPX and TCP/IP protocols, Fiber connected outbuildings with 3Com mini hubs providing Fibre to UTP connectivity, BT Kilostream for WAN access to the remote Oakehampton site with around 50 users also supported by a Novell Client/Server environment using a Thinnet Ethernet media.
During the 5 month contract, operational activities included Tier 1 support of users in the operation of MS Office, Perfect Office, and Windows for Work Groups. Infrastructure support for Novell v3.11 server and Kyocera printers.
Identification and purchase of new network products to upgrade the Councils IS infrastructure. Monitoring and analysis of LAN and WAN traffic for any potential problems, general house keeping of the server and end users work stations.
Project that I implemented included, Configuration and roll out of new workstations, commission of ICL Teamvision video conferencing system utilizing ISDN2e interfaces, implementation of PC Anywhere server enabling the councilors to remotely access the LAN, installation and configuration of Doc Solomon’s NetWare Toolkit for virus screening.
Expansion of the existing Cat5 structured cabling with the installation and configuration of a new 3Com Link Builder switch. Identification of new ISDN routing technologies with a view to replace the 64kb BT Kilostream Private Wire providing WAN access to the remote Oakehampton office.
