My initial brief was to build up a digital press department for a digital and mailing house. I have since moved on to various roles including Pre-Press Operative, Production Manager, Client Contact along with responsibility for Proofreading and IT.

I came back to Manchester when I was approached to help build up a relatively new company in Altrincham. I initially started as the Typesetting Manager. In 1987 we moved to new premises in Salford Quays, where my role had extended to Works Manager with responsibility for the day to day running of the company.

I moved to Tonbridge when an opportunity arose to become manager for a trade setting and publishing house. I worked on the night shift for three years managing both the advertising and publishing side of their business with responsibility for checking all proofs before press.

Here I was involved in the production of various local newspapers, magazines and national newspapers.

I served an apprenticeship at the above company as a Compositor. During this time I attended day release and night school at college to study for my City and Guilds in Printing which I passed with Credit.
