technical department on garment construction. Sourcing necessary machinery to

meet the plan. Promoting Health & Safety,ensuring Courtaulds Best practice was

implemented.Developing the local staff,ensuring systems and procedures were in

place to maximise efficiency and quality.Daily control of 400 machinists and 100

indirects.

Responsbilities: The daily organisation of the two factory units,totalling 1,450

people through the 2 Factory Managers.Agreeing production flows with the

Customers and ensuring these were met.Developing the local staff to be self

supporting.Guiding the Technical department in the construction of garments in

the easiest methods.Working through the Quality Manager to ensure the quality

met or exceeded our customers expectations.Working with the Cutting Manager to

ensure the cut to plan was achieved on a daily basis.Building relationships with

key suppliers to ensure that there was good communication and the factories

needs were met.Managing the relationship between Courtaulds and the local JV

partners.

Achievements: Improved factory efficiencies.After finishing my placement the

business ran with no expat senior management.The site grew to 1,700

people.Gave input into a new factory moving the BHS product out,expanding the

M&S business and changing from a mainly M&S Menswear/Childrenswear mix to

Ladieswear products .Adapted to a new culture and gained valuable experience

dealing with an American JV partner and customer.

1996-97 Courtaulds Textiles,Rowley Operations Executive

Office.Responsible for the management of the supply chain and the establishing

of the critical path toward manufacture once the design and sale had been agreed.

Sourcing.Used 4 regular UK CMT suppliers and 3 in Morocco. Responsible for

wage negotiations with KFAT.Attending Monthly Board meetings to review

Financial results and set the targets for the next quarter.Responsible for 3 sites

and liason with Head Office in Leicester.

Achievements: Improved the profitability of the division.Organised the

acquisition and furbishment of a centralised cutting factory.Introduced Cellular

working.Reduced manufacturing time through technical development of

machinery.Introduced systems and procedures for the control and supply of our

CMT partners.

Boxershorts,Pyjamas,Swimshorts,Poloshirts.

Responsibilities: Daily control of a team of 10 Supervisors,Cutting

Room,Workstudy,Garment Technicians. Maintaining discipline and Health and

Safety Best Practice.Liasing with Newcastle Factory on transport,Buying office

and stores over trims and Development office for pilots and samples.

Achievements: Built the reputation of Durham as one of the biggest(over 300

machinists)and most profitable factories in Courtaulds.

1987-88 Courtaulds Leisurewear(Durham) Production Manager

Product: Ladieswear-Sweat shirts and cardigans.Menswear-

Boxershorts,Pyjamas,Swimshorts,Poloshirts.

Responsibilities: Daily control of a team of 10 Supervisors,managing line

changeover,liasing with the Cutting Manager on daily requirements.

RTM's and Quality Performance.

Responsibilities: Implimentation and maintenance of a catalogue of quality

performance.Directing assistant on a daily basis.Visiting the customer to advise

on best use of the product and checking correct working practices.Liasing with

sales to distribute the stock product by customer requirement.

Achievements: Gained British Steel Accredited supplier status based on

BS5750.Became No1 Supplier of Refractories to BSC.

1979-81 Steetley Refractories Ltd. Quality Controller

Product: Refractory Bricks

Customer: British Steel Corporation

Responsibilities: The day to day checking of the product and reporting back to

the Q.C Manager and liasing with the Lab and Production Supervisors to

highlight contamination ,bad working practices and out of tolerance manufacture.

1978-79 Airfix Footwear Ltd. Graduate Trainee

Product: Shoes,Boots and slippers.

Responsibilities: Managed small team of cutters(clickers)cutting leather and

man made fabric.

Moved to Asssembly/Planning Manager setting the plan for the manufacturing

shop, planning the turn round of lasts and liasing with the sewing room and the

bottoms shop to form the assembly plan in line with customer requirements.
