Initially, this position was based in the stock control department during
harvest time, where I was
responsible for the intake of stock up to the value of £18k daily. During
my time at university, I have worked with the engineering department with
the site engineers in the running and maintenance of the plant. This
valuable experience included the redesign of components for mechanical
systems. I also has the opportunity to design components on site for
plant use.
Mar 97 - Oct 97 Lyons Crane Hire,
Elgin.
Principally a labouring position but had the opportunity to work alongside
the company engineers, o ften under extremely difficult conditions. I was
also required to drive all of the different types of vehicles in use,
ranging from small four -wheel bulldozers, to 18-wheel arctic lorries.
This position required working under very dangerous conditions.
Dec 94 - Mar 97 McCallum's Creative Hairdressing,
Glasgow.
I served my full apprenticeship in 20 months, (as opposed to usual 36
months) by enrolling myself i n additional classes and training nights,
but realised my true potential lay in engineering. This hairdressing
background has allowed me to work part-time in a local salon, financing
myself in dependently throughout University.

During my final year at High School, I worked part-time at my local Asda
Superstore as a warehouse worker.
