Position: Mechanical Field Engineer / Project Engineer

Part of the start up project team created when Innovene and BP split in to two separate businesses. Duties are as below whilst working for Jacobs Engineering. Further duties include class II estimate preparation. Planning and control systems. Creation and approval of work scope documents. Generate and progress work and purchase orders. Agree final accounts and variations. Answer engineering queries. Provide support to project team regarding work flow management and peak labour requirements. Trained in the use of UKCS Maximo, Traction and CVP. Lead Constructability reviews in DEFINE and EXECUTE stages of CVP. Interactive Planning sessions to part take and lead. Estimate preparation and / or validation ranging from class 1 to class 3. Integrated field planning and cost forecasting to match expenditure patterns.

February 2000 to July 2005 BP GRANGEMOUTH PROJECTS and JACOBS ENG.

Position: Mechanical Field Engineer

Reporting to the Jacobs Engineering RCM, ensuring successful execution of capital projects (250k to 10M) at BP Grangemouth Complex. Advise on safe working practices, complete advanced safety audits, report all safety incidents. Manage, plan and coordinate site activities with sub-contractors, monitor labour returns, monitor labour productivity and make necessary adjustments to recover plan, weekly progress meetings, report & validate progress, permit control, quality inspections, audits and site monitoring, coordinate completion activities investigate and resolve technical queries and ensure compliance with appropriate specifications. Estimating input at definition phase of projects. Validate and agree variations, provide expertise in pre planning, target cost compilation and final account preparation. Integrate in to the Turnaround team to carry out project scope during plant shutdowns. Punching and final acceptance of mechanical scope.

Multi service contracting including mechanical, civils, scaffolding, insulation, fire protection asbestos removal, painting Given the challenge of establishing Hertel in Scotland and selecting suitable location / premises from which to expand the business. Day-to-day management of the region, business development, presentations, pre-tender meetings, site quantification, estimating, labour movement. Responsible for setting yearly targets with the main board of directors and ensuring the area achieved it. All commercial aspects for each contract ranging from daywork, agreeing extra work, claims, valuations, invoicing and cash flow, industrial relations claims, personal injury claims.

Hertel Scotland started in 1996 with a minor shutdown contract and had grown to a peak of >350 employees with a turnover in excess of 9M.

Required to provide fully compliant and competitive contract quotations with emphasis on specification and contractual obligations and innovation. Pre-tender meetings and site visits to collate information to identify the scope of work and site conditions. Obtain best possible prices and discounts for large contracts. Follow up quotations with the client and discuss any possible alternatives that may improve the likelihood of securing the contract. Provide on site commercial expertise for successful contracts. Responsible to the Regional Manager.

Site Location - Fawley Refinery Southampton

Submit weekly labour/material reports to the client to stringently control expenditure. The contract was on a target cost basis. Submit final audited account of all costs.

Feb 92 - Dec 92 Babcock-Killingholme PS (£2.9m)

Project Assistant / Planner

Site Location-Killingholme, Grimsby

Weekly planning / progress reports to client. Measure progress on a day-to-day basis to highlight any problem areas. Measure and assess sub-contractors progress. Measure actual work completed and convert into NAECI bonus payment. Salaries for audit by an independent body. Prepare and submit purchase requisitions. Define and cost extra work scope and inform client of the content. Prepare and submit claim.

1990 - 1990 PST TRADING, UXBRIDGE

Position: IT Engineer

Design and write computer programmes for various customers and businesses. Prepare computer generated sales literature for international publications. Maintain NOVELL network and two remote locations. On-site customer maintenance. Personal assistant to the Managing Director.

1990 - 1990 CLEVELAND BRIDGE, DARLINGTON

Position: Technical Clerk

Maintain all correspondence to and from site for Drax Power Station, Thurrock Bridge, Canary Wharf and Sizewell. Transferred from the drawing office to the BP Bruce survey team. Duties were to survey and confirm the structural steelwork met the QA requirements of the contract.

1987 - 1990 HARTLEPOOL COLLEGE OF FURTHER EDUCATION

Position: Computer Technician

Duties included maintaining 34-console computer network. Installing new software/hardware. Assist staff and students with any computer related problems. Manufacture and install new electrical computer link to an external annexe. Design and write an 'easy-teach' manual for Database III Lotus and PageMaker for use within the college. During my employment I was promoted to the Cleveland Information Technology Project, as the Project Assistant.
