This would then be turned into a Proposal Quotation and a Presentation pack. If once we were successful in winning the tender, then I would have to detail all the Structural Steel work, curtain walling and framework onto AutoCAD and then detail all the required Roof and Cladding profiles for the build up i.e., Roofing Internal & External Panels, all the Vertical Internal & External Cladding Panels & Details, Rainwater Products, Gutters & Drain piping.

Once I had collected either the drawings or an order and
All other relevant information, I would then be required to process the order placed and then despatch them off to either head office or to our B'ham office, by either e-mail or by courier, or even sub-contract out to alternative suppliers. This role also involved quite a lot of liaison with the engineers as to design various jigs & fixtures to the requirements for various operations, and also liase with head office by telephone or e-mail to keep a tight control on any relevant information or to chase progress of
Existing jobs. My role with the company carried a lot of responsibility and pressure due to the various projects being worked on and had a general turn over of around £1 million per annum in orders, and design work for jigs & fixtures.

I started from an artists impression of the type of truck the company was trying to achieve, and then start on the design from scratch; setting it out on AutoCAD and working to the minimum of the parameters the company wanted and confer with the Project Manager. Once I had the basic features of the truck-taking shape I would then start to design the rest to the requirements set out as requested by the customer. Once the concept was approved I would then start the detail of the individual components making sure they all located with one another and there overall clearance met the required information. The actual outer profile of the truck would be cast for stability and the rest fabricated, everything was cross checked to make sure nothing interfered with the hydraulics of the forks, and so this project was completed and passed within 10 weeks and all to ISO 9001 standards.
