Site-based E&I Design Engineer. Plant development projects for Synthetic Chemicals (K82) and Silver Nitrate (K47)

process plants. Reporting to the technical manager and responsible for the design and commissioning of electrical,

control and instrumentation systems (predominantly within a zone 1 hazardous area) to satisfy process requirements.

Typical duties include production of scheme & estimate; control loop design; specification and procurement of equipment

(ATEX compliant to 94/9/EC); HAZOP & risk assessments; method statements; supervision of installation, testing &

commissioning teams; preparation of handover documentation; operator and craft technician training.

Use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD software packages.

June '97 - March 2000 : Montell Chemicals UK Limited, Carrington, Manchester. (formerly Shell Chemicals)

Site-based Senior Instrument Designer. Plant development projects for Carilon TM (polypropylene) process plant.

Responsibilities include liaison with Plant Senior Instrument Engineer for project definitions; carrying out site-surveys; production of detailed design & installation packages; procurement of equipment to Shell DEPs; liaison with installation contractor during installation; pre-commissioning; post-installation inspection and punchlisting.

In addition, I am responsible for the introduction & development of a Q.A.-based document control system for the Carilon plant. Use of AutoCAD release 13, Microsoft Excel '97, Microsoft Word '97.

Jan. '97 - June '97 : Fluor Daniel Limited, Sharston, Manchester.

Senior Instrument Designer. Assigned to Union Carbide Jupiter Project on Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol process plants. Responsible for the comprehensive check of, and subsequent modifications to existing design: instrument loop diagrams; junction box termination schedules; termination and I/O schedules (Honeywell DCS and Triconex Shutdown System). Use of ILG (Union Carbide instrument loop generation database) and Intergraph v5.0 CAD system.

April '96 - Jan. '97 : Merseyside Engineering Design Office Services, ICI Castner-Kellner, Runcorn.

Senior Instrument Designer, based at ICI Castner-Kellner MEDOS office. Undertaking design projects for the various Plants of the ICI Castner-Kellner and Rocksavage Sites. Responsibilities include Contract review; compilation of schemes and estimates, specifying and ordering of instruments, production of detailed design packages.

Responsible for the development of all Project C & I design documents based on Client definitions and from information obtained by conducting site surveys of installations at ICI Castner-Kellner & Rocksavage facilities. Use of Intergraph v4.0 CAD system and dBASE III.

Instrument Field Engineer, based at ICI Castner-Kellner site office. Providing Instrumentation design support for the FWEL/ICI MOPS Environmental Improvement Project construction team. Liaison with installation contractors providing technical support/supervision, co-ordination of pre-commissioning activities through to handover of systems to Client.

April '93 - Jan. '94 : AMEC Design & Management, Sale, Manchester.

Instrument Designer on chemical plant for CGW Meadow II project. Responsible for the production of control loop diagrams, block cabling diagrams and termination diagrams using AutoCAD v10, 11 & 12. Familiarity gained in the implementation of the Fisher PROVOXplus DCS.

Responsible for the production of Unit Wiring Diagrams; Cable Schedules; Block Cabling Diagrams; Interconnect Schedules; Instrument Location & Cable Routing Diagrams; Instrument Hook-Ups and all related Bills of Materials. Use of IBM Cadam, MicroCadam & Conventional Drawing Board.

Senior Instrument Designer on the following projects: 512KVR Gas Engine driven Compressor packages for British Gas Morecambe Bay. Skid mounted Reciprocating Compressor packages for British Gas Hornsea & Glenmavis. RB-211 driven AC Generator Sets for Shell Gannet Platform. Duties include the preparation of all C & I documentation working to BS5345, BS5501, BS5750 & Client specifications. Use of IBM MicroCadam & Conventional Drawing Board.

Nov. '88 - April '89 : Costain Engineering Ltd, Sharston, Manchester.

Instrument Designer on BNFL Thorp HECSP project. Involved with Block Cabling Diagrams; Cable Schedules; Termination Schedules; Instrument Loops; Trunking Build-Up System (TBUS). Use of ICE, Pafec DOGS & Conventional Drawing Board.

Sept. '80 - Nov. '88 : Ingersoll-Rand UK Ltd, Swan Lane, Hindley Green, Wigan.
