EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

Aug 2002 - Present Senior Lead Electrical Engineer ( Permanent position) - General Motors of Canada, Canadian Regional Engineering Centre, Oshawa, ON Canada

In Aug 2002 I was hired by General Motors of Canada in a permanent full time position as a Senior Electrical Engineer. My first assignment was on an Alternative Program (CNG) and I was in charge of designing and developing the Power and Signal Distribution System (PSDS) for the program. Being on this program I was able to prove the ability to work independently without supervision, to show my people skills, working in a team environment and to demonstrate my excellent project management skills. After this successful one year assignment I was given increased responsibilities and I was promoted as a Lead Senior Engineer for the PSDS Team. This two year assignment proved my ability to manage and coach a team of 10 Integrated Supplier Designers and Engineers on a high volume programme which was very successfully received by our customers in North America (Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent) and Asia (Suzuki GT/SS). This joint venture program was a success in all meanings; my capacity of showing a high degree of knowledge of the electrical architecture, develop and manage the electrical team, ability to proficiently communicate with engineering groups in North America and Asia. During this program I validated design using analytical tools including finite element, modal, virtual builds and others at component and vehicle level. I led engineering activities with other functions (e.g. suppliers, supplier quality, purchasing, pre-production organizations including support of production launch) to ensure delivery of product and meeting requirements and imperatives. I coordinated and managed the budget allocated for the PSDS by participating in cost reduction initiative sessions and proliferating (based on options, functions and features) the wiring harnesses and cables to have minimum impact on the assembly line. Since August 2005 I was assigned as a Senior Lead Engineer to work on a new cutting edge design for two hybrid programmes. The 2008i MY Hybrid programme is based on a 42V Electrical System and the 2009 MY Two Mode Hybrid program is based on 300V Electrical System. Both Hybrid programs are being electrically developed and designed in Canada. In this role I am responsible for building and managing a team of 14 Design and Design Release Engineers for the PSDS. Together with Purchasing Department and other Lead Engineers I participate in technical review meetings in order to select the suppliers for the programme. I am closely interacting with other SMTs such as Powertrain, Chassis, Body, etc. I am working in a Global Engineering environment where leadership and communication skills are very valuable. I work with engineering groups from North America, Asia and Europe and I am also responsible for transferring the design work from GMDAT (Korea) to GMC (Canada) and ultimately to GMM (Mexico). I am part of the PSDS GM Global Engineering of Leadership Team for Best Practices.

Apr 2000 - Jul 2002 Electrical Engineer (Contract full time position) Ford Motor Company, Oakville Assembly Plant, ON Canada

My full time contract position as Electrical Engineer started in April 2000 and I was in charge of the wiring harnesses development, design and modifications for the Windstar minivan 2001MY and launch of the 2002MY. I was working very closely with suppliers, design and manufacturing teams at all levels. I provided technical expertise to the Production Repair Team, Dealership Technicians and Service Engineers demonstrating excellent people skills. I monitored weekly warranty data for the current model year and I provided efficient and quick action item solutions. I led cost reduction workshops with excellent results and without affecting the customer satisfaction. I followed Ford's leadership skill steps improving product, communication and leadership. I was part of the semestrial customer satisfaction clinic team and used the provided suggestions to improve the quality of the product. I extensively travelled to Ford Engineering Centre in Dearborn, MI where I participated in design reviews, pre-production builds and where I received training. My other role was to investigate and root cause vehicle warranty malfunctions and thermal events providing efficient and corrective action plans to design and manufacturing teams.

Aug 1998 - Apr 2000 Electrical Engineer(Contract full time position)

Diesel Division, General Motors of Canada Limited, London, ON Canada

In August 1998, Diesel Division, General Motors of Canada offered me the opportunity to work on a contract full time basis at their locomotive manufacturing facility in London, Canada. As Electrical Engineer I provided interface support between Product Engineering Groups and Manufacturing Teams. I generated engineering change requests indicating root cause and corrective design actions related to cables, wiring harnesses and other electrical equipment satisfying the requirements and departmental timing objectives. I provided assistance to suppliers and vendors to resolve engineering related issues, product quality problems and cost reduction activities. I successfully completed the task of developing, building and training a production team at one of the US facilities in order to finalize in a timely manner the largest company's contract with the UK customer. I was part of a successful team which worked on the largest contract (1000 freight locomotives) for one US customer.

Zenon Environmental Systems Inc. Burlington, ON Canada

I worked in a Production related environment as Technical Support for one of the leading environment companies in Canada. I performed installation, testing and servicing/commissioning for water treatment systems serving industrial companies, municipalities and the military.

Mar 1996 - Mar 1997 Electrical Engineer (Contract part time position)

Ford Motor Co. of Canada, Oakville Assembly Plant, Oakville, ON Canada

On this contract part time position Ford Motor Company gave me the opportunity to be part of their engineering team at Oakville Assembly Plant, Paint Facility in Canada. I worked under Facility Engineer supervision and I was in charge of looking after manufacturing equipment working with a skilled trade team of electricians. I inspected electro-mechanical parts and equipment required for production and maintenance activities. I provided technical assistance to other engineers, skilled trades and contractors.

June 1989 - Sep 1995 Electrical Engineer - Maintenance Shop Coordinator

HESPER Co. Bucharest, Romania

After my University graduation in 1989 I was selected by one of the largest Romanian automotive companies to become the Maintenance Electrical and Electronic Shop Coordinator of 40 skilled trade employees in their day to day equipment and facility maintenance activities. This high volume machining process environment challenged me in creating and orchestrating a very successful team which not only managed to solve the day to day equipment issues but also improved them to higher production efficiency. I analyzed work orders and specifications deciding the work load and also prepared a regimented schedule of electrical equipment and systems repairs in order to prevent unwanted malfunctions.
