Responsibility for Manufacturing methods and capacity modeling to reduce process waste and optimize the availability and utilization of resources.
· Identified and implemented process changes which realized a 40% reduction in cycle time, saving £250K/annum.
· Designed and introduced assembly test fixtures in-line with ergonomics which increased product beat rate as well as removing potential RSI tasks. Increased production output yielding £500k/annum.
· Defined and documented methods of assembly to optimize operator utilization.
Responsible for the design evolution of a Marine product with a potential income of £700K.
Reduced product part count saving direct material cost to the business of £300K/annum.
Root caused a historical issue causing the company 10% product scrap.

Responsible for the design evolution of new products, alternating between Chicago design center, China, Germany and Scotland production sites to manage the development/manufacturing introduction of new products.

· Proven track record of delivering DFM/DFA solutions on time.

- Spearheaded the mechanical development engineers within the Tianjin factory, China.

Implemented specific design changes that realised a saving of $7.5m to Motorola

· Defined & Documented Production Processes to minimize cycle time and optimise capacity.

· Worked to expedite supplier readiness to process parts to meet ship acceptance dates.

- Systemised Injection moulded part suppliers and sub-assemblers to qualify and approve parts for production.

· Represented Motorola in Italy to win back the business of a customer the corporation had lost 2 years previous.

Responsible for the design installation and continual improvement of 12 manufacturing lines. Each line worth an average of $10m and realizing an annual income of $37m each.

· Source, benchmark, justify and procure equipment to semi/automate current manual processes.

· Reduce cycletime/increase productivity through process/product improvements.

· Design best layouts for existing/new manufacturing lines to maximise all company metrics.

· Implement lean manufacturing changes to continual improvement processes towards 6 sigma target.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology Engineer (Motorola) 1995 - 1997

Design new manufacturing processes to obtain best in class results. Carry out studies on methods of assembly to eliminate opportunities for error and reduce cycle time.

· Sourced new technology to drive down production costs & improve quality. Implementation of auto de-paneling robots eliminating a scrap cost of £180K/Month also yielding a labour saving of £147K/annum/per production line.
