Position Held: Lead Plant Inspector.

As part of a BASF plc Seal Sands reorganisation, transferred to AK Engineering Services.
Experience / Responsibilities:
· To liaise with the Insurer arranging inspection visits as necessary to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
· Ensure that inspections are done in accordance with written schemes of examination, company procedures and standards (BS, ASME, and ANSI etc). Over 750 statutory and non-statutory equipment items.
· Develop and operate the Condition Monitoring Pipeline Inspection Programme (CREDO) covering 10,500 pipelines site wide.
· Direct field activities of base force and outside contractors to ensure that the objectives of vessel inspection and pipeline condition monitoring programmes are met.

Position Held: Inspection Technician.
The Company: A multi-national chemical company manufacturing at Seal Sands the chemical intermediates Acrylonitrile, Adiponitrile and Hexamethylenediamine which are used in the production of acrylic and nylon fibres for clothing and carpets, together with a wide range of acrylic and nylon plastics.
The site has a current total manufacturing capacity 428,000 tonnes per year.
Experience / Responsibilities:
· Efficiently carry out statutory and non-statutory inspections of distillation columns / pressure vessels / exchangers / boilers etc. to ensure their fitness of purpose, recommending remedial actions as and when required.
· Carry out Non Destructive Examinations to recognised codes and procedures.
· Interpret and evaluate N.D.E. results and recommend actions to maintain Company engineering standards.
· Record and maintain the results of inspections and N.D.E. as required by Company procedure of national legislation, via computer systems.
· Ensure that locally produced engineering spares meet the quality requirements of the Engineering Department.
· Carry out pipeline inspections
Dates: 1976 to 1988. Company: Forster Wheeler Power Products Ltd.,

Position Held: Development Technician promoted to Test Engineer.
Experience / Responsibilities:
As Development Technician responsible to Test Engineer for:
· Building of test rigs from small bench units to 20 tons and working pressures from vacuum to 3000 p.s.i. for heat exchanges, pressure vessels and erosion/corrosion testing in the both nuclear and non-nuclear commercial fields.
· The manufacture of parts for rigs i.e. turning, milling, boring and fitting. Installing instrumentation and monitoring equipment in conjunction with the Electrical/Electronics Technician.
· Build air/water flow models for investigation of flow patterns and pressure drops through boilers and ductwork etc.
As Test Plant Engineer (promoted to, after two years as technician.) responsible to the Design/Development Engineer for:
· The supervision for the building, the commissioning and the running of flow models and test rigs as above, also bore welding development.
· Monitoring test data via computer, chart recorders, D.P. cells and gas analysing equipment as required. Installation of Thermocouples and potting off. In the case of flow modelling, using pitot tubes, high speed photographic and video equipment.
· Some rig testing required continuous running over a period of days or weeks, as a Test Engineer was responsible for the operation of a shift covering this work.
Dates: 1972 to 1976 Company: Texaco Overseas Tankships Ltd., London.
Position Held: Junior and Senior Marine Engineer Officer.
Experience / Responsibilities:
· Sailed on steam ships of various sizes up to 265,000 tons and 32,000 S.H.P. as both Junior then Senior Watch Keeping Engineer.
· As Senior Watch Keeping Engineer, was responsible to the Chief Engineer for the running of an Engine Room Watch.
