Employment History

Learning and Development Consultant

Significant achievements as a freelance trainer and consultant-

• Personal Effectiveness and Compliance training for legal firm – fee earners and support staff. Benefit to the business has been improved client interviews resulting in more robust client statements, crucial to litigation success.
• Training of banking sector personnel - Accredited Interviewing Skills and Facilitation Skills. Accurate recruitment decisions have resulted in reduced attrition and less grievance procedure activity. Improved facilitation has achieved more efficient and effective management of meetings.
• Design of power point training modules and e-learning for large government department. Testing of e-learning materials including emulations and knowledge checkers, facilitated power point products and EEDO work.
• Invigilator for National Policing Improvement Agency.

• Project managed the production of a Corporate Training and Workforce Development Plan for Hull City Council. Consulted all Directors and Training Managers. Created plan and made recommendations, which included the adoption of a ‘Learning Journey’ approach to meeting individual learning needs. As a result they dropped the practice of block-booking catalogued courses at the start of the year, regardless of relevance to the learner.
• Project managed process improvement interventions for several local authorities. Aim was to re-design the process flow for assessing Housing Benefit to capture the need for more robust verification. For one authority I discovered the solution to their issue of staff resources. By identifying the skills needed for each part of the administration process, I was able to demonstrate to management that they did in fact have sufficient human capability; they simply had the right people in the wrong role.

• Small Business Development: partnerships to include entrepreneurship, training needs diagnosis, design and delivery of training interventions, policy and procedure writing, internal investigations and key worker coaching.
• Performance Management facilitation for public and private sector organisations.
• Key facilitator on Organisational Change and Leadership programmes for several government departments building a ‘can-do’ culture.
• Design and delivery of product specific training in the areas of personal development and team performance. Subjects include personal effectiveness, time management, customer care and facilitation skills.
