Career Highlights |
I have worked for 2 OEM Companies (Land Rover and Jaguar) and 2 component suppliers (Keiper and Stadco)
I have worked as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, Process Engineer and a Quality Engineer. I therefore possess a considerable depth of experience across a wide range of areas of the automotive sector.
I have gained experience of operating within the Ford Product Development System (FPDS) and have generated and controlled documentation to support the requirements of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) including running PFMEA's, Toyota Supplier quality manual (SQAM) and QS9000.
I have been responsible for direct interfacing between component suppliers and OEM's at both Stadco and Keiper and for managing complex '8D' problem resolution processes in particular between Stadco and BMW. As project manager I have been the key interface between Keiper, Toyota and Johnson Controls and was able to successfully balance conflicting priorities to ensure delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Stadco
Project Engineer | November 2001 - Present |
At the request of the Plant Director, I returned to Stadco to work in the quality department. As the key quality interface between Stadco and BMW I was responsible for reducing the monthly PPM figures from an unacceptable high, to a figure well below the target set by BMW.
As a result of my success, my role was broadened to include Swindon Pressings where I also brought about significant improvements in the levels of faults and the speed with which they were dealt with.
I then moved on to Stadco's Shrewsbury HQ where I was responsible for co-ordinating all of the assembly manufacturing changes, PPAP and PSW Submissions for Project RDX20/30 into MG Rover.
Following the successful completion of the MG Rover work I was transferred by Stadco to their Castle Bromwich Pressings plant where I was responsible for undertaking statistical analysis / process capability reviews of Aluminium panels produced for Jaguar. I was also responsible for PSW Submission of panels to Jaguar.
My key responsibilities during my time with Stadco have included:
· To Lead the problem resolution process to ensure robust solutions to customer concerns;
· To manage relationships so as to ensure the efficiency of the problem resolution process at all levels both within Stadco and externally with MG Rover, BMW and Swindon Pressings; and
· To co-ordinate the engineering changes through the manufacturing assembly process whilst ensuring no adverse affect on current production.

I was recruited to Stadco in order to manage the purchase, development and subsequent implementation of a facility capable of producing BIW structures for the Land Rover L322 project. The facility was installed at the Stadco, Tipton plant and was capable of reaching the defined volumes whilst meeting or exceeding the prescribed levels of quality. I was able to utilise both manual and automated production equipment to achieve this.
My key responsibilities were:
· Ensuring that Land Rover's pre-production build requirements were supplied with prototype assemblies at the correct time and to the correct design level;
· Management of the facility from concept, layout, quotation through supplier management and installation to buy off.
· The training and development of 12 assembly operators - including the provision of all necessary instruction sheets, machine parameter settings, build plans and visual display material.
Keiper UK

Land Rover
Project Engineer | August 1985 - September 1998 |
During the 13 years that I spent at Land Rover my career progressed from being a contractor in the paint shop to being a key member of the manufacturing project team that delivered Freelander. The wide range and significant depth of experience which I gained from this period will become clear from the description of my roles and responsibilities which is set out below:
I was a member of a small specialist team that developed brand new processes and facilities to take project Freelander from concept all the way to manufacturing launch, with the prime objective of developing a consistently high quality product.
My key responsibilities during my time at Land Rover have been:
· Management of suppliers and liaison with component engineers for my allocated modules. I had to ensure all facilities, processes and components achieved the required quality targets and specifications within the specified cost and time parameters.
· Responsibility for the co-ordination and running of Process FMEA's for my allocated modules and in addition, take an active role in the Design FMEA's.
· To project manage the introduction of Networked D.C. Tooling Stations, from supplier selection to installation onto the Engine Pre-build line, Engine Body Marriage, Air Bag and Wheel Fit, ensuring the tooling delivered within the process capability limits.
· Key player in the development of the Portuguese Discovery Van. In particular ensuring that the vehicles were correctly built and all relevant parts were packed correctly for successful delivery to Portugal. As part of this role, I visited both Rover Portugal and the conversion company where I was responsible for educating local personnel in the conversion process required to turn the vans into normal Discovery Passenger vehicles.
· Participation in Engineering test and Evaluation Programmes, determining the standards that engineering set were capable of introduction on to the volume vehicles.
· Providing support to the Final Assembly Personnel, educating them in the correct sequence of operation in order to maintain compliance with numerous Rover quality standards.
· Co-ordination and control of damaged painted panels between Final Assembly, Paint Shop and Body in White. Ensuring replacements were delivered on time to prevent additional re-work of vehicles.
· Liaison between Land Rover and various Contractor Companies to ensure that the automation of the Paint Shop stores and Computer monitoring system would fulfil the specification and supply the correct mix and sequence of vehicles to the Body in White and Final Assembly lines.
