Finning are the caterpillar dealer for the united kingdom,I was employed in the general repair/ field service department of the earth moving division.My duties were to carry out major overhauls and repairs to caterpillar earthmoving equipment.This would involve the disassembly,inspection and rebuild of machines and their components using the necessary power/measuring and diagnostic tooling required for the satisfactory rebuild standard for caterpillar engine/powertrain and hydraulic systems, also to assess the reusability of these systems components.

From the workshop I went to field service,this would involve traveling to site to carryout repairs and fault find problems on customers equipment using the necessary diagnostic tooling, ET ,etc, also to carryout electrical repairs on 12/ 24 volt systems.

I spent 18 months as I of 2 resident site engineers on open cast coal sites, our duties were to service and repair, deal with breakdowns and changeout failed or hours up units to equipment on site.

When I left Finning I was foreman of the general repairs department of the earthmoving division, my responsibilities were to delegate jobs, to assist service engineers in technical details and communicate between the workshop and service office regarding progress, also dealing with parts and warranty issues.

During my employment with Finning I have gained extensive experience in a wide of caterpillar earthmoving equipment, including the electronic controlled systems used in machines today.I also attended regular caterpillar technical training courses.
