I was head hunted to Persimmon Homes, to work as assistant to the Construction Director, between the Customer Care dept and Construction dept, clearing problems that CC could not cope with or senior managers were having problems with, basically identifying construction problems, costing repairs and programming, troubleshooting other senior manager’s issues within Housing Association and private markets.

However my remit was slightly different from other build managers, insofar as, I was solely on Customer care issues, completing a project at last handover stages and clearing the backlog of customer care issues, Contracts Manager Status.

With FM Construction I was responsible for all programming and planning of the project, organising the in house labour force, detail drawings for design approval, setting up of meetings and chairing meetings as client with Building Control, planning dept, Fire officers and HSE, costing of labour elements of the works with on site surveyors.
With FM Construction I went to Motherwell tech to attain my NEBOSH Certificate. This allowed FM to attain the right to become Projects Managers

Made redundant following completion of the contract, from post of Project Manager for Kestrel Technical Services. I was responsible for the installation of all Mechanical items, pool installation and pipe-work systems and Electrical Services to Plant Rooms at Cannon Health and Fitness Club, East Kilbride, and overall contract value £3m.

Two main Orange KPN Switch Sites in Belgium each value of £1.50-£2m. The refurbishment of both these properties was carried over a short 9-month cycle. 1998-1999, the largest site, in Brussels, was three floors underground and had been a nightclub, completely refitted to accommodate £40m of Telephony Switching gear.

I was responsible to the M.D. for the running of all the fit out works, maintenance programming, civils works, new build and M&E and HVAC, Telecoms and associated projects within the Glasgow office.
Typically examples of fit out works would be: Grade A listed building in Woodside Place, ACCA, Internal and External works. Sky Park building approx £1.0m of office fit out works, including again works for ACCA.
Also with BW Scotland, on the Telecoms side one of my clients was Dolphin / Crown Castle International I was bid manager and responsible for the coordination and running of the Dolphin 3G, Cell Site Roll Out Programme in Scotland having successfully tendered and secured the contract along with Galliford’s and Kvaerner throughout the UK

• Fit out works to Clydeway Centre Glasgow some 8 projects within office complex refitting and installing Telecoms rooms. Contract Total in region of £900k.
• Fit out and refurbishment including communications room for ACCA, Woodside Place Glasgow contract value £200k.
• Cell site build for Dolphin / Crown Castle International throughout Northern England and Scotland. 45 sites in total from August 2000 to Feb 2001. Each value up to, £60k.

Responsible for the implementation of the NTL / Cable Tel Network Programme in Glasgow; consisting of Some green field sites, and partly refurbishment of existing buildings.

During my time with McKean & Co, I was, mostly involved in drainage works, house building ground works, refurbishment works (Clydesdale Bank) and the construction of waste transfer stations, the client being Shanks and McEwan.
My responsibilities with McKean & Co were to ensure the progress on sites went as programmed, carry out supervision of setting out procedures, manage the subcontractors on site in a well coordinated manner and liaising with the clients on construction requirements. I was with McKean & Co for 7 years
