• Working in the datacentre configuring newly Jumpstarted Sun Servers (V240 to V890, T2000, T5220) using Jet, including cabling.
• Management of Sun Servers via their lights-out controllers.
• Configure multiple network interfaces using IPMP, including VLAN tagging.
• Configure connection to NAS storage via NFS mounted filesystems.
• Configure SAN storage connection, device discovery, disk formatting, file system creation and mounting. Use of Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) and Veritas File System (VxFS).
• Create and configure zones on Solaris 10 servers, manually and as part of Jet build.
• Configure and maintain Veritas Cluster (VCS) systems.
• Create NAS volumes and qtrees on NetApp FAS980 & FAS6070 filers & vfilers (running on Ontap 7), including troubleshooting.
• Install Oracle 8i, 9 & 10G on Solaris 8, 9 & 10, including patching.
• Install WebLogic Server 8.1 & 9.1 & 9.2 (sp4 & sp5) and domain creation.
• Install SunOne 6.1 sp4.
• Install IBM Tivoli Omegamon XE for messaging.
• Unix support of 500+ servers in WLR3, Openreach, Global Services, 21CN & TSR environments including out-of hours and week end on-call.
• HPUX system administration (using SAM and command line) of rp3440 (PA-RISC), rx2620 (Integrity).
• HPUX SAN mount point creation, using Logical Volume Manager, root disk mirroring, builds using Ignite.
• Linux RedHat builds, system administration, network administration (including bonding), PSP installation, iLO configuration.

Working on Openreach and on the 21st Century Network programme (21CN).

• Configure V240, V440, V490, V890 newly jumpstarted (using Jet) SunFire servers (over 500 servers in total) including firmware upgrade.
• Configure sc & rsc ALOM ports and prepare Jetserver for automated Jumpstart build including custom files and custom packages.
• IPMP including VLAN tagging using 802.1Q, IP addresses and hostnames changes.
• User administration (including Role-Based Access Control configuration and pre-requisites for application software i.e. MQ, XFB, Oracle, Siebel), mirroring and sharing resources.
• Install and configure sudo.
• Create mount points via NFS.
• Install NetApp software on SAN-connect servers including the update of Emulex drivers.
• Create NAS volumes and LUNs on NetApp FAS980c filer (running on Ontap 7.1), including troubleshooting.
• Create and assign Veritas volumes to mount SAN LUNs. Management and maintenance of LUNs.
• Continuing 3rd line support of OS and hardware after delivery to customer.
• Install Oracle 8i, 9i & 10g Client & Server (including patches) and basic SQL commands.
• Install WebLogic Server 8.1 & 9.1 (sp4 & sp5).
• Install SunOne 6.1 sp4.
• Produce full documentation and delivery note of each server for customer.

Project management: completed mission-critical project involving integration of subscription outsourcing facilities and website re-design, including full integration testing alongside existing systems.

Due to company design, I had to balance both marketing and system administration. I managed a team of 9 (sales and marketing, circulation & subscription) and as our IT department did not warrant a full time employee, I volunteered to do the technical support. Initially self-trained with telephone support from head office, I spent approximately 30% of my working day in IT but, as I found IT more stimulating, I then spent 70% of my time in IT. I took the initiative to train through Sun Microsystems courses whilst taking official holiday and paying for courses myself.

My skills include writing technical reports and documentation and following up projects to ensure completion within specified deadlines. I consider myself to be a self-motivated and customer focused individual who is competent in managing/supporting a remote team and equality efficient working alone under my own initiative.

• Identify, recommend & implement suitable marketing strategies on behalf of publisher clients (300 titles).
• Design of all promotional support.
• Compile monthly sales statistics for all titles with full analysis and recommendations.

• Production of daily print order with contact with foreign agents to co-ordinate their daily supplies.
• Production of weekly and monthly billing reports within tight financial deadlines.
• Set up macro-driven spreadsheet in order to automate daily tasks.
• Responsible for co-ordinating the opening of the Frankfurt print site (based on site prior to and during launch).
• Implementation of new print order system (involved in the definition of all technical specifications).
