CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

I’m a freelance web manager with nine years experience working across high profile consumer and business websites such as AOL, Lastminute.com, BBC, ITV and Tiscali. I have just completed a 13 month contract with Tiscali/Pipex where I launched a small business website for their database of 100,000 SMEs, now the official pipex.co.uk site.

As Portal launch Manager at Tiscali/Pipex I built a site from scratch using in-house tools and staff resources; identifying and sourcing small business content partners and contributors on a limited budget. I managed the site for a year, tweaking design and navigation to provide one of the biggest small business sites in the UK. I developed SEO strategies, editorial guidelines and growth strategies for handover to my successors (an in-house team), implemented intelligent advertising, worked with the marketing team on product promotions to the user base and managed contract and fee negotiations on all my partners.
My previous role at ITV was Duty Editor during the relaunch of the new ITV.com site. Here I worked as part of a management team, rolling out weekly channel-by-channel launches across the site. I acted as a key liaison between the CMS development team and the content team; communicating editorial requirements and training journalists and external teams (such as This Morning) to use the CMS. I also mentored the Lifestyle, Drama and Soaps channel editors in editorial planning, developing tone, interactive elements of the site for ITV comps, web management and page navigation. Post launch I acted as part of a team of four deputy site editors developing website specials as well as my core job of updating the ITV homepage. I worked closely with the ITV marketing team and the ITV local team to increase awareness of the site and its services/content and developed a strong relationship with the VoD team, making sure that video was compliant, timely and compelling.

A previous role at Tiscali was as Homepage Editor, looking after and updating the ‘shop window’ for the site. I also created special microsites for events including Valentine's Day and Big Brother and line-managed the Community Producer.

I’ve also worked at the BBC, transferring BBC content on the Where I Live sites to a tailor-made content management system designed specifically for BBC journalists; assigning metadata and ensuring content adhered to editorial and legal guidelines. At Lastminute.com I managed a team of three, responsible for a portfolio of award-winning newsletters and I launched the first Egg Banking monthly newsletter as part of an agency contract.

I believe my years of experience and skills across the spectrum of web management make me an ideal addition to your business. I’m cheerful with a can do attitude and I enjoy meeting and working with new teams of people. I particularly enjoy deadline-driven roles and those that allow me to communicate across the business.
