Employment History
(Jan 1998 to 2009)
IT Director
Reporting to the Chairman, I have made significant improvements in the Company's
productivity though highly reliable IT and telephone systems, freeing the time of the
professional staff for income generation activities.
I have responsibility for the specification, budgeting, purchasing, implementation,
maintenance and support of the entire company’s IT and telephone systems globally.
I have established, as well as maintain, the Company’s local area networks in all
offices that are linked via a wide area network using internet based technologies.
There are up to 100 users connected to all the networks.
I am responsible for the security of all our systems, including firewalls, routing, antivirus,
anti-spam and anti-spy ware provision, as well as implementing secure and
tested backup, archiving and disaster recovery policies.
Additionally I design, develop and maintain software systems based on the specific
needs of the Company: For example, I designed:
The ‘Job Costing System’ which monitors the level of expenditure for each
job and compares this against the expected fee income for that job, thus
measuring job performance. It also manages invoice generation;
A custom built secure Intranet for clients to download specified data from our
network;
Integrated data entry systems between AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel. This
enhanced productivity as users no longer refer to printed four-figure tables;
Various other utilities that save time and money.
I am responsible for the Company’s web presence. The site contains a search
engine, feedback and request for more information forms, as well as general
information about the Company.
My expertise in complex distributed database and web technology enabled the
Company to become the first participant in a successful internet database system, for
sharing and managing construction information for one of the Company's clients – a
major supermarket chain. My insight, suggestions and constructive feedback led to
me sit on the system's user group, leading to continuous improvement.
I led the Company's office relocation IT project seamlessly. All office telephone and
IT systems were fully operational by mid-morning immediately following the move.
Undertaken on-time and within budget, this project included:
Specifying and installing a new telephone system and complex telephone line
requirements at short notice;
Installing a structured cabling system in the new office for both voice and
data networks.

company.

installing, maintaining and supporting hardware, software and networking solutions.
I was also responsible for the Company’s in-house IT needs, including hardware,
software and networks (over 200 PCs connected to four local area networks). I also
