Working in BSS Deployment Department as Project Manager. The dept is responsible for Installation, Commissioning and troubleshooting of new GSM and WiMAX Cell sites, swaps, BSC’s, XCDR’s, Microwave links, Rectifiers, MW BackBones, Expansion of On-Air sites. Worked with vendors Motorola, Huawei, Alcatel Lucent, Dragonwave, NEC etc.

• Complete Rollout Planning and implementation/acceptance testing of Cell Sites, BSC’s/XCDR’s/PCU and expansions. Installation and commissioning of new sites through vendors (Motorola, NEC, IVY) and peer Engineering dept’s (RF planning, RF optimization, BSS planning, OAN, TXN Planning, and Production etc).
• Reporting/Highlighting progress and mentioning issues related not only to implementation, acceptance and quality but also the pace of work regarding installation/commissioning and other like RF, Transmission, Civil work, acquisition, etc
• WiMAX installation/Integration in three cities comprising of Vendors including Motorola, Huawei and Alcatel. Installation and commissioning of 120 Base stations with IP MW successfully done. Setup of BSS, NOC and Core equipment.
• Managing 12 Engineers and Installers for daily activities, vendor companies (GSM indoor equipment, Outdoor antenna installation, Rectifier systems, Microwave systems).
• Inventory management, equipment request from Warehouse, transportation requests to sites.
• Managing Quality assurance/Quality Control issues at sites for Civil, integration, hardware installation and testing.
• Drive Test of important New sites/Expansion sites.
• KPI monitoring (CSSR, Call Volume, HSR, DCR, Path balances, IOI etc) of New sites, VSWR measurement, all expansion sites and New BSC’s.
• Installation and commissioning/troubleshooting of BTS sites (Indoor, Outdoor, Micro, 900/1800, ), BSC/XCDR, PCU for GPRS/EDGE (SGSN, GGSN, ATM) , expansion of BTS, Mobile BTS, Equipages in OMC, Cell ID creation in NSS, Rectifier, Microwave, SDH, PDH,
• Traffic Monitoring of Cell Sites and proposing Expansion on high blocking cells.
• Coordination with RF Planning for site configuration and coverage (Frequencies, neighbor data, BTS type) Antenna design (Type, Height, Tilt, Azimuth).
• Coordination with Motorola, OMCR and NSS for commissioning and trouble shooting of BSC’s, PCU, XCDR, BTS (Macro, Micro), Mobile BTS, BSC reparenting, Ater addition.
• Assisting OMCR and NSS to equip cell sites Data Base (Frequencies, Cell ID’s, LAC, LOC, slot configuration of BTS, neighbor cells), BSC (Cell Sites, DIU data, CIC’s, OML, MTL, XBL data) and XCDR database.
• GPRS commissioning at BSC. Parameter implementation at PCU, BSC, ATM, SGSN, GGSN etc.
• EDGE Implementation at BTS, Equipage change in OMC
• Arrangement of all the HW required for installation of network entities.
• Expansion of On-Air sites (Addition of Radios, Antennas, E1 link connectivity) by monitoring Call Blocking Rate (TCH Blocking) through OMCR terminal.
• Swap and upgrade of BTS cabinets, Microwave.
• MW link deployment of new sites as well as capacity enhancement links and new BSC MW links, Backbone links, MW rings.
• Using Mapinfo Software for planning of Leased Line or MW option, coordination with Txn planning for connectivity plan of sites.

• Radio design and Cell Planning of 2G network GSM 900 & 1800, including network dimensioning, site selection, frequency and parameter planning for hopping and non-hopping networks and for single layer and multi-layer networks, using ASSET planning tool. Experienced in Traffic planning and management in multi-layer networks. BCCH/SDCCH planning for new sites.
• Checking daily reports from OMCR and Analyzing the worst performing cells based on High drop call rate, High handover failure ratio,TCH Blocking, Busy hour traffic, Poor call success rate, Poor uplink and downlink Quality in Network/BSC to improve the overall signed KPIs of the area classes (Urban, suburban & rural).
• Frequency plan and neighbour list validation using MapInfo and Recommending BCCH Frequency for the sites.
• Planning of GSM Neighbour list addition and deletion using MapInfo. Parameters tuning of Handovers, Neighbour list, C1, C2 & power requirements for meeting KPI’s
• Performing Drive test using TEMS drive test tool for post processing and problem identification
• Coordinating with planning team for planning frequency for new sites.
• Monitor the network performance based on reports (% Call Setup Success, %RF failures, % Handoff failures, %Drop Calls etc.), particularly for new sites, LAC Planning.
• Handling of interference issues during Post-IOS drive test by change of frequency, BTS power and fine tuning for functioning of the N/W at optimum levels. C/I Analysis, interference Reduction (Adjacent & Co-channel Interference).
• Analysis of drive test data for coverage and quality problems and offering appropriate solution for solving the RF related problems in the network.
• Analyzing and optimizing worst performing cells report, KPI report monitoring
• Coordinating with the customers for drive test and optimization activities (Motorola). Analyzing the drive test log files and giving suggestions on physical optimization.
• Coordinating with reporting manager in maintaining the KPI’s (TCH completion rate, SDCCH Completion rate etc.)




Parameter Tuning: Fine-tuning of network parameters by OSS-RC server. Recommend CDD and Parameter Changes. Implement Consistency Checks.

Trial Evaluations: Benchmarking done for dual band Andrew and Kathrein Antenna. Evaluated all new features of R12 and 07B. e.g. MSS in Pool (MiP), Multiband feature, Tandem Free Operation, BTS Power Saving, Handover Power Boost, Enhanced Handover Success Rate, RLINK AMR. Also evaluated all features of EDGE e.g. Five Downlink timeslot, Active Queue Management, Flexible Priority Handling, Incremental Redundancy, Network Assisted Cell, Persistent uplink Scheduling and Single Phase Access. Statistical and drive test comparison made between Aluminum and Copper Feeder Cable.

Statistical Analysis: Trouble shooting and Optimization based on the “Statistical Analysis”, “CTP Traces”, “MTRs”, “MRR” and “Drive Test Logs”. Generation & analysis of statistical data reports using Business Objects 5.1.6 for identification of non-performing/poor-performing cells in the network as per defined KPIs with the vendor. Analysis of frequency plans and neighbour relation discrepancies using MapInfo Professional 8.5 & 7.8 SCP.

Drive Testing & Post-Processing: Drive Testing on regular basis to identify the coverage holes and quality issues of Voice and Data services using Ericsson TEMS Auto 5.0 and Investigation GSM 7.1.3 , analyzing the logs using TEMS Route Analysis 7.1.3 to identify problem areas and providing recommendations for performance enhancements.
Monitoring and verification of acceptance drive tests as per defined drive routes for newly integrated/upgraded sites of different phases in the regional network. Performing drive tests in response to customer complaints, Re-parenting of BSCs & Re-homing of sites due to network expansions.

Feature addition, Fine tuning:Half Rate, Inter-cell / Intra-cell Handovers, HCS (Hierarchical Cell Structures) Cell Load Sharing, Cell Selection & Access, Frequency Hopping, MS Dynamic Power Control, Idle Channel Measurements, Channel Allocation Profile etc.

Coverage Enhancements: Improvement in radio coverage using TEMS Cell Planner 6.2 by skewing sectors (antenna tilts) and antenna orientation adjustments. Trials and recommendations for RF Repeaters to enhance the radio coverage in blind spots. Complete Design Document Evaluation for the repeaters.
IBS Optimization: Walk Test with pre & post Optimization for Consistel IBS (Indoor Business Solutions) to ensure proper Handovers and to avoid IBS spillage.

Worked as a Network Engineer in HFC Broadband ISP.

Worked as a Network Engineer in the ISP. My key responsibilities and duties were:
• Adaptive Spectrum Management Implementation in ADC’s CUDA CMTS to cater for noise levels in upstream signals of cable modems which changes the Modulation (QAM, QPSK), Central Frequencies and Signal power in response to varied SNR levels.
• Configuration and Monitoring of Fiber SDH interface, E3 link with PTCL, through Sagem ADR-155C.
• Cisco Router 7204 VXR configuration using its Serial and Fast Ethernet interface. Also Implemented security through Router’s ACL (Access Control Lists).
• Strong understanding and implementation of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Routing Protocols OSPF, BGP, IGP, EGP, EIGRP, VPN, Tunneling etc.
• Configuration, Provisioning and monitoring of CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) ADC’s CUDA 12000 on DOCSIS 1.1 specifications through CUDA interface.
• Built the complete Automatic Performance Monitoring of all Routers, Access Servers, CMTS, Cable Modems, Proxy Servers, DNS, Mail Servers and their display on web page. This project was done in PERL, SNMP, JAVA, XML. The diagramming was done in MS Visio. Worked on HP OpenView.
• Design and Implementation of CUDA Provisioning Software in PERL with fast routines and full security and logging features.
