Design and development of new and existing Motorised platforms and associated control equipment using Solidedge CAD. Performing stress analysis using Cosmos for Solidedge.

Mechanical Designer

Design of special purpose machinery for automotive applications. This involves conceptual design, specification of components e.g. motors, gearboxes, slides, ballscrews, hydraulics and pneumatics and the subsequent design and drafting of the completed machines. These are used mainly for automotive applications for assembly and test of components.
Also responsible for training existing staff in setup and use of Solidworks.

Responsible for four engineers and an assistant and the management of the design office including implementation of control systems etc.
Design for military markets and extremely harsh environments worldwide including MOD customers.

Design of Angulation heads, motorised heads, control consoles, enclosures with windscreen wipers, tripods, interfaces and transit cases

In 1999, I produced a concept for a new electro mechanical angulation head that was radically different from its predecessors in both concept and construction with particular emphasis on cost reduction. Completed mechanical design, stress analysis and electro mechanical integration and all detail drawings.

To date Instro has produced more of this particular angulation head than any other. and resulted in a record year for the company in 2000.

All products were designed to be compliant with both internal and external specifications. Participation in design reviews with customers in UK and overseas.

Design of electronics packaging and integration of electronic assemblies with mechanics and consequent emc considerations.

Experienced in plastic injection moulding, traditional machining, castings: die, precision sand and investment, extrusions, sheet metalwork, fabrication, full hermetic sealing.

Authoring and compiling technical maintenance manuals and user guides.
