Catalogue Development Centre Ltd publishes the trade monthly journal Catalogue & e-business now in its 15th year and has established itself as the voice of the industry through its informed and educative editorial stance. Successfully developed supplements and digital media offshoots as the market grows and diversifies – CareerZone (staff recruitment service), Insight – industry enewsletter.

Judge for the annual Catalogue Awards, a major event in the mail order industry calendar, for the last 7 years 3 of which as Chairman of the Judges.

Owner - Catalogue Development Centre Marketing

Catalogue Development Centre Marketing, a specialist mail order consultancy providing marketing services to B2C and B2B catalogue businesses. Typical projects undertaken include analysis of catalogue and business performance, business and marketing planning, production management, online marketing strategy, catalogue critiques, new catalogue feasibility studies/launches, business evaluations as well as longer term retainer arrangements.

Market and conduct a series of successful public training workshops around the country- Profitable Mail Order Marketing (just completed the 14th year).

Owner – Calendars Limited
Sole owner of niche mail order business Calendars Direct selling calendars and complementary product. Purchased loss making business and have turned around company by product development, CRM segmentation catalogue makeover to profit making – even in a recession.

Created the first specialist mail order advertising agency in the UK reaching £2m turnover and 10 employees. Handling clients such as Mattel, Corgi Collectibles, Selective Marketplace, Deluxe UK, Chromocolour and Time-Life Books.

Started my own advertising agency with an ex-colleague from Saatchi & Saatchi. The agency handled clients such as Dorling Kindersley, Octopus Books, Athena, Ryman and GUS.

Head hunted to direct all agency clients and to turn the consultancy into a direct marketing agency. This involved transforming the account handling structure, hiring personnel and changing the working practices of the company during a period of rapid growth. The company grew from £12m to £25m in 20 months, 40 to 110 staff with all the structural and employee problems fast growth creates. The 35 clients varied from Abbey National to Renault, Bristol Myers to GUS, AA to Allied Dunbar.
