(Jan 2007 to Apr 1997)

Project Manager/Application Consultant

Basingstoke, Hants

Responsible for the implementation of TROPOS ERP, Coda Financials, Cognos BI on Unix/Sql Server with an Oracle database. Used Prince II-based methodology. Typical contract value £200k - £500k. Line manager for four product consultants.
Managed and delivered 15+ full-scale ERP projects in well-known companies including:
Distillery, coffee & tea manufacturer, sweet manufacturer, global telecoms provider, UK/US white goods supplier, car wax manufacturer, UK bank note printing works, UK mint (medals and coins), Irish pet food manufacturer, cake manufacturing group, bread and quiche manufacturer, US aerospace component supplier.

Designed and delivered several Windows and Intranet development projects, including warehouse bar-coded pallet-control systems, sales order processing for Foodservice and “SuperSearch” data mining tool.

Achieved significant operational “selling-on” , for example a backfill support contract for a SAP roll-out and additional consultancy and services for a warehouse NDC implementation.

(Mar 1994 to Mar 1997)

Operations Manager

Huckerby Royall Systems, Guildford, Surrey

Successful business start-up with two colleagues, supplying “Jobshop” ERP and Sage Accounts to small manufacturing companies. Responsible for implementation, training and pre-sales consultancy. Quickly became proficient in the software so as to provide demonstrations and training. Initiated annual maintenance (i.e. help desk) and application development services. We achieved 23 system sales in three years, providing the spring-board for the company’s success and it’s eventual sale to a software group.

(Feb 1985 to Mar 1994)

Customer Service Manager

Kewill Systems, Walton on Thames, Surrey

Initially CADCAM consultant selling and training CADCAM systems,
Transferred as production control system (i.e. ERP) consultant, which is where I gained my basic expertise in providing training, implementation services and feasibility studies.
Promoted to Managing Consultant in 1989 and to Customer Service Manager (reporting to the MD) in 1991, responsible for support and delivery to 1,000+ customers, with 65 personnel in four offices.

With a brief to transform the quality of post-sales operations I successfully adopted a “TQM” approach. Having appointed some key team leaders, I reorganised and re-energised all departments (installation, hardware maintenance, distribution, support, software development). This increased our maintenance revenues and vastly improved our reputation with the customers.

As software development manager at Kewill, I successfully upgraded the entire core package to Visual Basic 7, thus reducing maintenance costs, oversaw the implementation of EC VAT (Intrastats) and several other new product initiatives. These helped to keep revenues stable or rising during very difficult economic conditions.
