Overall responsibility for development and implementation of ICT strategy, infrastructure, applications and services across all IEG group companies in the UK, Channel Islands and Europe.

Particular emphasis on developing a close synergy between technology solutions and business strategy, in order to drive increased efficiencies across all business units.

Appointed to manage the programme to replace all legacy line-of-business systems with bespoke applications on a .NET/SQL platform.

The programme encompassed replacement of systems in all key business areas from network tender and acquisition, CSEP/POC and network construction and meter fit, through to DuOS, RPC and Legacy billing systems and comprehensive industry interfaces including Change of Supplier and Network Operations processes.

A significant number of challenges around business change were identified and addressed by the project, which was delivered on time and within budget.

Initial fixed term contract extended to identify and manage the implementation of further enhancements with a view to using systems development to leverage competitive advantage in the markets GTC operates within.

Recruited via Unisys to manage several projects to completion, including
• SQL Server application/server rationalisation & consolidation
• Deployment of UM functionality across >1000 desktops (Live
Communications Server and Communicator)
• Pilot programme to evaluate penetration of PUPs in the domain and effectiveness of various ASW solutions to counter this
• Implementation of value-added services to remote workers via LCS implementation.

Responsible for overall project management of above projects; benefit justification and securing budget approval; systems architecture; development of QA & test procedures, management of incident reporting and design & documentation of implementation procedures.

Wales & West Utilities , Cardiff

Wales & West Utilities is a new utilities company resulting from the sale by National Gas Transco of western gas distribution networks.

Recruited directly to co-ordinate the project to migrate legacy Transco applications to new W&WU infrastructure provided by Serco.

This project stream was operating behind schedule when I arrived, but was subsequently completed on time under my direction.

Responsible for reviewing design; build; test and implementation processes, recommending improvements and operational changes to restore project to schedule.

Brit Insurance, London

Primarily contracted to manage the development and integration of various third party tools into a major release of Brit’s principal underwriting system “Eclipse”, I also handled a variety of issues that arose with Eclipse in the run up to the release, and project managed the implementation of an automated ratings engine for USPI underwriters.

Key tasks included:

• Designated principal point of contact with major systems suppliers (DocuCorp; Ebix; Sequel)
• Liaise extensively with key business users, ensuring that specified requirements were addressed by deliverables.
• Ensure QA for deliverables
• Manage expectations of business user groups and senior stakeholders.
• Extensive liaison with management at all levels.
• Reverse engineering of original data migration, in order to backfill MIS reporting system.

Technical project management role, responsible for the applications stream of a complete infrastructure replacement project.

Responsible for managing development team charged with re-engineering solutions to operate on updated platforms.

Brought in late in the project lifecycle to return applications stream to target. Delivered on-time and within budget, this role required extensive management of user expectations, and liaison with Senior Management in order to restore confidence in the project.
