Providing Commercial and Quantity Surveying Services to National Railway Company working on a “Hub and Spoke” Contract, duties include the managing of the commercial function of the Principal Contractor, Control Centre and Property Framework Contractors. Consisting of reviewing payment applications, raising and assessing the appropriate Change Requests, Variations, Early Warnings and preparation of Project Management Instruction’s, monthly cost plans, attending engineering and monthly progress meetings.

Other duties undertaken include preparation of tender packages for a number of civils and property framework contractors and carrying out tender negotiations and preparing contract documents. Also prepare detailed estimates in order to achieve funding authority from the Board of Directors.

Working within the commercial department on a Multi Million Pound contract, upgrading the Jubilee and Northern Line Project for Tube Lines Ltd. Main duties were to commercially manage the Installation Subcontractor by raising the appropriate Contract Communication such as EWN’s & CI’s and preparing the “Bottoms Up Estimate”, reporting disallowed costs by liaising with the Project Delivery Team and assessing Compensation Events entitlements.

Also supporting Thales Rail Signalling Solutions Limited business development section providing commercial support and preparation of bid proposals for upgrade & new signalling systems and axle counter (AzLm) equipment on various London Underground projects including successful bid of Neasden Depot, Docklands Light Railway and Network Rail projects.

Providing support to the Communications Senior Project Manager with interfacing of Communications and Fire Systems into Station Delivery Group. Main priorities are providing overall costs, resourcing and challenging the Principal Contractors 4 weekly look ahead programme, chair regular Project Reviews with both Planners and Cost Managers in ways of cost and scheduling performance efficiencies.

Project Controls Engineer/Cost Manager
Worked in the Stations Programme Office, within the very demanding Project Controls Section; role included assisting with evaluating the accuracy of the Estimated Final Cost at Project level and preparing a bi-monthly Project Financial Status Report, Risk & Trend Analysis.
Additional duties included supporting Stations Modernisation Enhancement Project (SMEP) Project Controls Manager & Senior Cost Manager, undertaking the lead role in producing a number of cost exercises and reports; reconciling Communications & Data Transfer Work Packages on option B & C “Bottoms Up Forecast”, identifying risks and setting up trends by using an Active Risk Management database and Critical Item & Action Report, also implemented for Stations a consequential loss claim and budget estimates and high level management reports, Project Reviews and Professional Development Reports.

Main role was to oversee the project management role for a Nominated Subcontractor on Building Refurbishments and New Build Commercial projects.

Duties included attending site meetings, reporting Early Warning Notices & Compensation Events, preparing monthly applications, estimating and preparing adjudication papers, monitoring cash flows and programming of works and labour resources including snagging items and providing general commercial support to members of the Project team. Prepared Cost Reports for the various projects and cost reconciliation of the raw materials (steel and ironmongery) for Senior Management.

Employed has a Cost Manager preparing budget expenditures, cost controlling, feasibility studies from initial design stage of Express conversions, busy & Congested, Petrol Filling Stations through to project completion for a major supermarket chain.

Managed the Communications, Fire, Mechanical & Electrical Subcontractor’s work packages on Earls Court Station (LUL), Refurbishment Project. This included the complete procurement process from compiling work packages through to tender assessments and recommendations, preparing monthly payment applications; cash flow forecast and negotiating Compensation Events with the client and subcontractors.

Preparing monthly valuations, Compensation Events, Contract Value Reconciliation reports, negotiating final accounts and loss and expenses claims on a number of gas pipelines and directional drilling contracts.

Seconded to the Jubilee Line Extension Project working for London Underground Limited in the Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Department. Main roles were to assist with contract change control notices and the tender evaluation process of sections of the mechanical, electrical and communications tender packages results to the JLEP Contracts Committee.

Also provided Quantity Surveying activities on a major retail chain supplier working on budgets for Petrol Filling Stations.

Seconded to a Major Telecommunications Company on the Jubilee Line Extension Project, carrying out site measurement, preparing payment applications, pricing variations and preparing loss and expense claims.

Working in a number of departments throughout Dew Group Pitchmastic before finally being given the opportunity to work within the quantity surveying section on Civil Engineering and Piling contracts, carrying out site measurement, assisting with preparing valuations and completing day works.
