CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

I completed a general Computer Science degree at the University of Birmingham for which I was awarded a 2.1. I learnt about many areas of computing, including database design and using SQL on a PostgreSQL system, software developement in languages such as Java, C, Prolog and OCaml as well as more theoretical areas of computer science, networking and operating systems.

I have held down several jobs since I was 16. I worked in retail as a shop assistant part time during my sixth form studies, and full time for a year as an office administrator at an accountancy office, where I completed an NVQ in Business Administration before starting my degree.

While working at the accountancy firm, I found myself managing their small Windows network after their IT contractor left suddenly soon after I started work there.

Currently I work part time for the National Blood Service as a Senior Technical Healthcare Officer, issuing blood products to local hospitals.

I also have experience in the hardware side of computers, having built my own desktops for the last 5 years.
