Profile
I am a professionally qualified engineer, with a total of nearly 30 years experience involved in the execution of control and instrumentation systems based engineering projects. Projects have included national and international projects to supply computer based process control and safety systems technology to a wide range of petrochemical and industrial process applications, including 18 years on Oil and Gas projects.
I have more than 15 years project experience as Project Manager and Project Engineer within the manufacturing industry concerned with the supply of proprietary process automation systems. Project management activities related primarily to lump-sum turnkey projects covering the full project life cycle from project conception, engineering design and test of software and hardware, through to final implementation and commissioning on site.
I also have over 12 years project experience as Senior and Principal Engineer within engineering contractor organisations involved with control and instrumentation systems on both upstream and downstream Oil and Gas total construction projects. Recent activities have included mainly long term overseas assignments, primarily in the role of Project Management Consultant (PMC) on detailed engineering projects providing managerial and technical liaison between client, contractor and vendor at several locations worldwide. More recently, I have been involved in the generation of project design deliverables for a number of front end design study (FEED) projects.
I am a highly motivated and committed project based professional who has a broad background of project experience and mix of skills, having worked in both engineering and project management areas, often in technically challenging environments and key positions of responsibility. This has provided a solid base of both project and technical management together with associated project controls related skills. Strongly goal orientated, I welcome the challenge that meeting project objectives provide. Proactive and responsive to the needs and challenges of the project, I am able to apply good problem solving and project coordination skills. Always enthusiastic to learn new skills and develop existing, I have applied the latter in a wide variety of project environments working either as part of a team or on an individual basis to meet project and company objectives, in close association with customers, suppliers, sub-contractors and company personnel.
I am currently operating on a freelance basis seeking new openings and assignments, particularly with career opportunities for the longer term.
