 Large Scale Programme and Project Management and Consulting I have successfully managed to time, budget and quality a considerable number of large scale projects in 18 countries - a number of these ERP Projects both Pan-European and Global.
This involved managing budgets of up to $10m and multiple teams of up to 60 business and technical staff.

 Public Sector Experience
Programme Manager for the full life cycle of a major Oracle 11i ERP implementation for the Irish Department of Defence and the Defence Forces . This covered 22 Oracle Modules and integration of existing Defence Forces systems. Includes preparation of Tender Documentation for EU journal and full evaluation cycle and final contract negotiation.
Managed a successful HEA/ SIF funded pilot Business Intelligence project based on Banner Student Administration System for An Cheim ( Computer Services provider to the Institutes of Technology ) – this will now be rolled out to 15 Institutes of Technology.
 Budgetary / Financial Management Full P&L responsibility for Capital and Project Budgets of up to $10M and Operating Budgets of up to $10m per year.
 Client / 3rd Party Relationship Management I have considerable experience as a systems integration project manager working for – the Integrator (when with IBM) and a package solution supplier (Credit Card Software) familiar with the different challenges in both roles and the end client I am familiar with preparation and monitoring of SLAs and the associated KPIs.
 Divisional Management I am an experienced Divisional Director and Manager with full HR and P&L responsibility for from 30 – 175 people. This includes recruitment and staff training, development and retention in a multinational multiproject environment covering both home based and overseas client based staff.

▪ Planned and implemented structure and staff objective measures, compensation and staff development measures using staff and customer feedback methods.
▪ Project managed SAP implementation for 9 countries. Team of 50 technical and business. Running on Unix Application Servers with DB2 databases.
▪ The value of this project was approx 10m USD.
▪ Managed Whirlpool Europe Y2K Project – Software and Infrastructure – 25 locations Approx. 3M USD value.
▪ Seconded to Whirlpool Shanghai to take over management of their full Y2K Project following an auditors report. Using both company and third party resources I successfully completed the project to time and budget.
▪ Devised, planned and implemented a Business Continuity Plan for the centre which has become the standard for Whirlpool world wide.
▪ Lead the Project to extend the Financial Services Centre globally – worked with Government agencies in India, Australia and Eastern Europe to establish the location. Prepared and presented to the Executive Board the conclusions and project proposal. Proposal was accepted but subsequently indefinitely shelved after economic downturn in the US.
▪ Lead a restructuring plan for centre in Dublin which results in a major downsizing – I was offered promotion to IS Vice-President to be permanently based in Corporate Head Office in the US – for family reasons I opted for a severance package.

Achievements
▪ Managed projects as Systems Integration Manager in the following locations for IBM. - Phoenix Arizona managed SI project for American Express Card Services Company total budget was $60M hardware and software – project was based in Phoenix with implementations in Phoenix, UK and New York also under my direct management. This system handled all authorisation and processing transactions from all merchants and card holders worldwide – the transaction volumes were in excess of 1 Million per day from thousands of user terminals. This used rule based servers – logic and business rules filtered transactions before they hit the main systems.
- Toronto Canada managed implementation of banking ERP system consisting of both package and bespoke elements based in Toronto with branch systems across Canada.
▪ Managed and participated in consulting assignments in the following locations.
- Cyprus and South Africa led consulting project on all aspects of selection of retail banking solutions - including requirements analysis, RFP preparation and advising the banks on evaluation of responses and selection of successful vendor. Acted as a consultant to the bank project management team during the project lifecycle.
▪ Acted as Project Recovery Manager on assignment in the following:
- U.K. Was assigned to take over the running of a project in serious trouble – under time pressure I successfully re-evaluated the project in all it’s aspects, recommended and got agreement on the way forward and then managed it to a successful implementation. This was a sensitive project from a HR aspect as the staff involved felt very vulnerable and had to be re-motivated and kept focused.
